Free printing for all students
That's right, printing is now totally free from computers on all three campuses - a fantastic saving for cash-strapped students. Find out more from student rep, Edmund Walker, VP Education with the SU, or check out the printing pages for further details. We have also upped our spend on books by an extra quarter of a million pounds to make sure books on course reading lists are more readily available. Find out more on our library pages online.

Who pays to keep students at university?
Some may optimistically think a student's maintenance loan covers all their living expenses, but as finance writer, James Andrews explains in this article most students still need to rely on bank of mum and dad - or get a part-time job. For those struggling with finance there is help available on our website.  This Guardian article highlights favourite apps to make a student's life easier - including help with budgeting, studying and sharing accommodation. Students have their say
Final year students are being asked  for their views on studying at Essex as part of the annual National Student Survey conducted each year to assess student satisfaction with university life. Since 2012, Essex has been in the top 15 of UK mainstream universities for overall satisfaction. Students views are important and help to contribute to changes at university - our extra spending on books follows feedback from last year's NSS survey. To encourage students to take part, we are donating £1 to charity for every completed questionnaire. First and second year students can take part in the UK Engagement Survey.
