Review of the Scheme for Community Councils
The final date for submitting your responses to the Review of Scheme for Community Councils is approaching (Monday 28 January 2019) and we have been urged to submit them as soon as possible.
EACC Office Bearers met to consider a response which might give others some guidance and we will submit this as well, but NOT until we have heard any comments members may have. We are open to suggestions on this and we don't have a right to answer on your behalf, so let's hear from you if you disagree with what we have said in the attached Pre-Questionnaire for CCs_EACC.pdf please respond to: secretary@edinburghcommunitycouncils.org.uk
Next EACC Meeting
The next EACC meeting will be at 7pm on 21st February 2019 in the City Chambers. We are expecting to hear the latest on the Local Development Plan but more importantly, issues you may have?
One such matter that was flagged up is Community Council's duty of care. Some may have seen the case where a CC is being sued. We will be looking at this matter as requested by a CC. If you have any other concerns, please send in a paper/report detailing the issue you have in regard your community or other matter by 31st January 2019 and we will look at including this in the Agenda. This will give everyone an opportunity to consider their CCs views on the matter.
BBC License Consultation
The BBC is consulting on what they should do from 2020 about free TV licences for people over 75.
There maybe a number of elderly residents in your community who could be affected by a withdrawal of the free license. Everyone should be encouraged to respond to this consultation as there are a number of options open to the BBC. Responses to this consultation can be made at www.bbc.com/yoursay
