  LIVE CLASS + Q&A

This weekend,
January 26, 2019 at 12 PM Pacific/3 PM Eastern
Dr. Norm Robillard will be teaching a Fast Track Diet for SIBO Class and Q&A session,
hosted by SIBO SOS™ founder Shivan Sarna.

The Class costs $59 to participate in.

The class will be 1 hour long, followed by 2 hours of questions and answers.

You can attend live or just watch the recording on your own schedule.

The Fast Tract Diet™ uses a simple equation that assigns foods a point value that describes their “Fermentation Potential”. Nothing is illegal, you just control the Fermentation Potential.

The Fermentation Potential is combined with addressing underlying causes and gut-friendly behaviors & practices to form a 3 pillar system.

You’ll get access to a complete recording plus professional transcripts after the event is done.

NEW IBS BLOOD TEST - IBS SMART

Dr. Pimentel recently announced
a new version of the anti-CdtB, anti-Vinculin Antibody test he developed for IBS screening: IBS Smart

The test screens for IBS/SIBO from food poisoning - the most common cause of IBS and SIBO.

According to Dr. Pimentel, IBS Smart is "the original on steroids".

He says the main difference is better specificity.
He told me he is getting better results with IBS Smart than reported in his PLOS validation study done with the original version of his test.

The original test he created was made available as IBSchek from Commonwealth.
Then other labs created versions of his test on their own, without his involvement: Quest (IBSDetex - no longer available), Cyrex (Array 22) and Vibrant America (IBSSure)

Now he has released his updated version as IBS Smart from Gemelli Lab.

Logistically, the lab will bill insurance first, with patients paying any remaining balance.

Interpretation Note: If the test is negative, you or your patient can still have IBS and/or SIBO from another cause besides food poisoning.

Indication Note: The test is validated for Diarrhea/Mixed types, not Constipation.

       Resolor (Prucalopride) Update

Prucalopride has been approved by the FDA
It's US name will be Motegrity

Finally, the safe and effective prokinetic Prucalopride, frequently used for SIBO, is coming to the U.S. with the name "Motegrity".

It was approved in December and will be available sometime this year.

If you'd like to learn more about Prokinetics and SIBO, you can watch the online class I gave last summer.  It's an hour class followed by Q&A.

            RECENT STUDY HIGHLIGHTS

A NEW TYPE OF CONSTIPATION DISCOVERED
"RAPID-TRANSIT CONSTIPATION"

A seemingly paradoxical new type of constipation has been described -  rapid-transit constipation. The rapid transit occurs in the beginning part of the large intestine only, then the transit slows down.  It is speculated to be caused by food allergy &/or intolerance.1
Two studies have been conducted on this, both with children- one in 2011 and the recent 2018 study, which is how I learned about it.

"Rapid‐transit constipation (RTC) is a recently discovered subset of chronic constipation and has been linked to food intolerance.”2

Here's the authors explanation:

“While conducting a retrospective analysis in 2011, we described a paradoxical new subset of children with intractable constipation with rapid proximal colonic transit, called rapid‐transit constipation (RTC).14 A retrospective review of patient records suggested a link with atopic tendencies. More than 40% of patients had allergic symptoms, eczema, or asthma, and 11% had a family history of an allergic condition.14 There was also a high incidence of symptoms linked to food intolerance (e.g. abdominal pain, anal fissures), suggesting that RTC could be linked to food intolerance.”2

1. Nuclear transit studies of patients with intractable chronic constipation reveal a subgroup with rapid proximal colonic transit. (2011)
2. Dietary exclusion of fructose and lactose after positive breath tests improved rapid-transit constipation in children. (2018)
