Thursday 17th January 2018
Pitches are back open this weekend and there is a raft of training sessions and challenge matches all set to go.

Subscriptions Now Due

All our dues for 2019 are now up for renewal, and there has been a change this year as you may have heard through various team messages.

The GAA registration system runs from January 1st to December 31st.  In order for the club to be registered with the GAA, you have to have renewed your membership.

Until you have done that you are not insured to train, play or coach within the whole of the GAA.  This is not just a Cuala issue.

We have held the prices the same as last year which compares very favourably with a lot of other clubs and activities.

There is also the option to register now but to spread the payment over three instalments, hopefully taking the pain out of having to find the money at this time of year.

We are pleased that over 50 per cent of our members have already registered and we hope that number will rise quickly with more teams, players and coaches returning to action.

SAFEGUARDING COURSE

Well done to the large group of coaches who completed their Safeguarding Course in the club on Monday.  This is now a mandatory requirement for anyone acting in a coaching capacity in the club and needs to be renewed every three years.

Well done to Cathy Brock who scored an incredible five goals for the Junior Dub Stars last weekend.  See our pic of the week below.

Well done also to Jennifer Dunne, Martha Byrne and Eimear Loughlin who lined out for the Senior Dub Stars on the same afternoon.

Congratulations to Sinead Wylde who has been selected on the Dublin Senior Camogie Squad for 2019. A great personal achievement for Sinead and another milestone for Cuala Camogie.

Well done also to Hannah O’Dea, Sinead Murphy and Roisin O’Grady who have been selected on the Dublin Intermediate Camogie squad for 2019.

Well done to our strong Cuala contingent involved in last week's Walsh and O'Byrne Cup matches.   The hurlers lost by a point but the footballers advanced to the final which is on this Friday night against Westmeath.l

During 2018, Amanda Stapleton, sister of one of the stalwarts of our senior hurling team, Shane, was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumour. As a result, Amanda has not been able to work for the last number of months and this situation is unlikely to change in the foreseeable future. To assist Amanda and her family at this difficult time an Amanda Stapleton Fund has been established for all funds raised from fundraisers, donations etc. To date, the support of members of the GAA has been a major contributor and the family are greatly appreciative of this support.

With Shane being a valued member of our club, we in Cuala are organising a fundraiser in conjunction with Newstalk’s Off the Ball team. “An evening for Amanda” will see an Off the Ball Roadshow being held in the Royal Marine Hotel in Dun Laoghaire on Wednesday the 20th of February next. The event will commence at 8pm (doors opening at 7.30pm) with all proceeds going to the Amanda Stapleton Fund. Tickets are €20 each with tables of 10 available for €200.

A Table Quiz in support of the Cuala Adult Hurlers will take place on Jan 31st in the Club Pub, Dalkey. Book your table Now! Phone 087 2994820 or email adulthurlingcuala@gmail.com

Great to see so many young folk running around and getting all that pent up energy out of the system over the past few days.
