Electronic Eye

Sydney Video Makers club newsletter

Dear <<First Name>>, we are so glad that you are reading this :)
LINK to see club calendar.

The Electronic Eye, or EE for short, is the newsletter for the Sydney Video Makers (a.k.a. SVM) Club. You can peruse past edition of the newsletter on our website. We use this newsletter to advise of our upcoming club meetings and provide pertinent news items from our members. We do not wish to be a "me too" video magazine as there are plenty of those already on the web.

The EE is open to both financial members and non-members who are interested. If you wish, you can easily unsubscribe at anytime and if you got this forwarded to you, and want to subscribe you can do so via our club website.

Peter Brouggy

Peter Brouggy

Peter joined the club last weekend. Please make him feel welcome, if you see him at the club.

Peter shares the following about himself:
  • Age 61, married, two daughters, still employed as an Op Risk Manager at Westpac
  • Been a stills photographer since the Box Brownie days
  • Got into Video about 4 years ago when I was asked to do a training video at work
  • I wasn't confident that my Canon 550D was good enough so I bought a camcorder
  • That led to the beginning of my GAS syndrome (refer to Equipment.jpg photo)
  • I always wanted to be a TV Cameraman so for the past 4 years, as part of my transition to retirement, I have been reskilling myself (and kitting up) to start a video production business
  • I take on projects for family and friends as a way to teach myself and to learn from experience
  • I am interested in joining to club to share my interest, to learn more and to contribute whatever I can
We will interview Peter on stage, and he is going to bring a couple of his recent toys to show us:

Tech Stuff

I know of 2 club members who have on order a Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 4k.

I am not sayin' who, but it will be interesting to see what these babies look like. Current advice is that they will ship in Australia in February.

Meanwhile a 3rd club member who did have an order in, decide to cancel and he bought instead the well aclaimed Fujifilm X-T3, making him the 3rd person to have an X-T3 in the club.
