Please be advised that the correct date for 2019 Advanced class Atlanta is March 4 - 8, NOT April 4 - 8. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

Hello! <<First Name>> <<Last Name>>

Advanced Class introduces more challenging designs to all students who have completed the first ten phases. At the present time, it is the highest level attainable to students of Japanese embroidery.

We are excited to announce to you about 2019 Advanced Class “Reminiscence of Battle” which will be held from March 4 - 8 at JEC in Atlanta. Please take this opportunity to reserve your seat.
The motif is called Gunbai, or “war fan” which is a fan-like device used by samurai commanders to direct troops during battle maneuvers, and as a symbol of rank.

From old days, this motif is used for ladies’ kimono and obi to wish for guidance during the ordeals and turning points of life. May the wearers be successful and achieve their aspirations.
I hope this class will provide a good opportunity to deepen the significance and experiment the techniques used for this particular design. Very importantly, we wish to honor each stitcher for her/his accumulated endeavors in life.
We will offer two versions, the design composition seen in the photo with back and front obi on page 10 of red cover Ondori book published in 1978, and the second will be the design of back obi only.
