Souperbowl of Caring  
Now collecting donations for our local Sumter Soup Kitchen between now and Superbowl Sunday, 3 February 2019. Look for the soup pots! - Please make checks payable to “Holy Cross” and write “Souperbowl” on memo line. Every dollar collected goes to Sumter’s Emmanuel Soup Kitchen. 

Little Food Pantry at Holy Cross accepts donations of canned and non-perishable items every Sunday. Just place your donation in the basket at the entrance to the church. See Harriett & Glenn Kirkland for more information.

Feeding the Homeless   Holy Cross is providing supper to the men & women's homeless shelter on Wednesday 27 February. See Fr Michael to volunteer or make a financial contribution toward the cost of food and supplies. - A donation in any amount is appreciated - just let us know it is for supper at the soup kitchen.


Parish Prayer Request Cards are in your pew and available at the entrance to the church. Place in the offering plate for prayers to be listed on the parish prayer list for six weeks.

Your Financial Giving supports the mission and ministry of Holy Cross.  Your continued giving ensures that we begin 2019 on sound financial footing. 

The vestry has approved a balanced budget for 2019 of $129,000. The budget ensures that the Mission & Ministry of Holy Cross remains a strong witness to the Good News of Jesus Christ. 

Parish Annual Meeting, Sunday 27 January 2019 immediately following 10.00 am Worship Service at Holy Cross in Cranmer Hall We will be electing two members to the Vestry, (including Jr Warden), four Delegates and four Alternates to diocesan convention (Convention date: Saturday 16 March, 2019 at St James Church, James Island, SC), presenting the 2019 budget and other items affecting the Mission and Ministry of Church of the Holy Cross. If you feel that the Holy Spirit may be leading you to serve or prompting you to nominate someone to serve, please speak with the Senior Warden or Fr Michael 803.305.8780 and review the “Are You Called to Serve” handout found at the entrance to the church.

Walter Anderson & Michael Bennett have agreed to serve on vestry. Joy Black has agreed to serve as Junior Warden. Agreeing to serve as Delegates/Alternates are: Cheryl Bennet, Joy Black, Jan Black, Gary Fowler, Janice Flower, Meg Shinall. (We still need two Alternates.

  • Monday, 28 January   Dr. Leighton Ford will give a lecture on the timely title, “How the Mighty Have Fallen:  Who Will Lead Us Now?”  An outstanding leader, evangelist and relative of Billy Graham, and internationally recognized Christian leader, Dr. Ford brings a wealth of experience and wisdom much need in addressing this subject so key for today’s Christian communities.  This evening will be hosted at the Cathedral of St. Luke and St. Paul.  Coffee and Dessert will be held at 6.30 pm and the lecture will begin promptly at 7.00 pm.

Here’s where we need your assistance

Bag Packing—Every Wednesday night from 5:30-6:30 pm
Bag Delivery—1 driver & 1 helper for each school on Thursdays
Fresh Fruit—bags of apples, oranges, or clementines only
Monetary donations —please put Feed My Lambs in memo line
Please keep bringing plastic bags!  We use 120 each week.
