OUTREACH PROJECT: HELP TO SAVE THE FLAMINGO CHICKS!
WELCOME TO TERM ONE!
Please take note of the following updates and reminders:

WELCOME:

We would like to extend a very warm welcome to all our new families and staff members who have joined us at the start of the school year.  Our school year started off amidst lots of eager little faces, some needing reassurance and others who couldn’t wait to walk right in.  Well done to all of you – we are so proud!  We shared some precious moments over the past few weeks, from busy little hands delighting in messy play and bubbles, to baby ballerinas proudly prancing around in rainbow tutus!

A special welcome to our first Grade 1 learners, Cassia Kampf and Thanaah Voterson - You are making history this year, as you are a precious part of laying the future foundation for our exciting Capriccio! Arts Powered Preparatory!

HIGHLIGHTS & GIGGLES:

Bach - Teacher Lauren J
“We’re amazed to see how our youngest little learners are developing in leaps and bounds - in such a short time!”

Beethoven - Teacher Amy
“The little ones love being outside spending time in the garden, enjoying the lovely summer weather and bonding with friends."

Mozart - Teacher Gabi:
“Messy play – all the way, we loved exploring foam, silky play dough and let’s not forget the SLUSH!”

Chopin - Teacher Boudine:
“Our class have settled in so well – and what a pleasure it is to have such wonderful children in my class, who just LOVE to help; they pack away and even help to clean!”

Stravinsky - Teacher Shandre:
“It is such a privilege to get to know each other - We have the greatest conversations; one of our classmates told me the other day: “ Teacher, we know EVERYTHING …” "

Preparatory -  Teacher Rosina and Teacher Lauren:
“Art and free expression have been the highlights for us – exploring different mediums with amazing results... Not to forget our crazy Alice in Wonderland dress-up fun day!”

GENERAL INFO:

We are looking forward to having our parents join us for our respective Class Info Sessions.  An overview of class and school-related topics will be covered, to offer insight into our curriculum, policies, meeting new staff and day-to-day runnings.

School Picnic:  This is our first Capriccio! School family event for the year; everyone is welcome to join. Pack your healthy picnic basket and dress your little one in their yellow (or purple for Preps) Capriccio shirts.  It is a great time to come and relax for an hour or two and make new friends.  More details to follow closer to the time.

Communication:  For all absent messages, collection arrangements or general queries, feel free to email our admin office or message Rosina directly as she facilitates communication between parents and the school.

AT SCHOOL:

We’ve been exploring great themes, which has already sparked such keen curiosity in our learners:

In ArtXpress the kids loved learning about Michelangelo and drawing under the table – definitely a first.
As part of Little Green Heart all our classes are now nurturing their own section of the school garden and LOVING IT:)
During Xperiworld the children loved the pumping heart experiment – except when some squeezed a little too hard...
In Cookin’ Clues, it was great to see all our little upcoming chefs in action - eagerly stirring, mixing, cutting and tasting!

NEWS FROM TASHAI:

"We have already had so much fun exploring our creativity this term... We got our juicy jiggle on in DemiDance, found our inner musician in OKeyDoKids, became drama queens in Plot’nPlay and got our blood flowing and heart rates up in BallBunnies and Locomoto. We even had our first puppet show! We are loving our CDP programs - I'm truly blessed to be our school’s full-time performance arts and physical education teacher now."

Our extra-mural classes started up with a bang - I’m so proud of my little superstars! They’ve been little busy bodies during our afternoon lessons in Hip Hop & Jazz, Contemporary Modern, Ballet, Visual art, Flexinastix, Piano, Classical & Pop singing, as well as recorder lessons. We’ve got a few spaces open if you still want to join us! Mommy working full time? Don’t stress, we’ve got you covered with our discounted aftercare option. Contact the office for more info and registration forms.

BE PART OF OUR RESCUE OUTREACH – SAVE THE FLAMINGO CHICKS!

We are sure many of you have heard about the plight of thousands of little flamingo chicks – about 500 of whom have been moved to SANCCOB in Cape Town. The chicks were abandoned by their mommies and are in desperate need of being helped to survive. More info: https://www.iol.co.za/capetimes/news/plea-for-public-to-help-care-for-abandoned-flamingo-chicks-19051522.

We have built up a good relationship with SANCCOB in the past and as we are guiding our children into becoming socially aware, this is a great project to kick-start our year.
A list of some of the items they are in need of, will be displayed at our entrance gate & shared via WhatsApp. If you’d like to help, please send your donations to school in a bag or box labelled “SANCCOB” and we will make the relevant arrangements.

Thank you to all our parents for your enthusiasm, cooperation and support.

Feel free to contact us should you have any questions.

Wishing all a wonderful year ahead!

Kind regards,

Elbe Webber (principal), Rosina Lee-Warden (vice principal) & Team
