New Release!

Just in time for Valentine’s Day, I’m very, very happy to announce the newest literary-artistic endeavor with my marvelous mom, Jan Elkins: Blessings: A Children’s Book for Grown-ups.
 
A few years ago, Mom had the idea to craft blessings from the ancient love story, Song of Songs. She invited me to work with her to write simple poem-blessings that both children and grown-ups could enjoy. Here’s an example:

Blessing of the Rest of Heaven
3:2-5
 
May you know the joy of being known—
may you find when you seek,
be consoled when you suffer,
and be forgiven when you fail.
May you be blessed when you are cursed,
strengthened when you are weak,
and lifted up when you fall down.
May you know the rest of Heaven.
 
Mom also invited me to illustrate the book. I kept the illustrations simple, too: the black-and-white line drawings are meant to be colored, added to—whatever you wish.
