Family Night Out at Five Guys Burgers and Fries on Feb. 20

February Family Night Ou t will be on Wednesday, Feb. 20 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Five Guys Burgers and Fries, 8107 Creedmoor Road. Just tell the cashier you're there supporting Hilburn Academy and a percentage of sales will be donated to our school!

World Read Aloud Day

Do you want to help your school next year? We are recruiting PTA leaders.

The Hilburn PTA Nominating Committee has started their work identifying and recruiting leaders to take on PTA Board, committee, projects and program roles. We can't do it without you! If there has been a program, project or event this year that you'd like to help with next year, please email PTA VP-General Laura Hudson and let her know what kinds of things you are interested in. We'll present a slate of nominees at the last General PTA Membership Meeting of the year to vote in our new 2019-2020 board.

Adams Elementary School, a year-round WCPSS school in Cary, is sponsoring a book signing and PTA social on Monday, Feb. 4 at 6:30 p.m. at Bond Brothers in Cary. Author Sharon O'Donnell will be telling stories from her latest book, "Please Don't Let Me Be the Oldest Mom in the PTA."

Parents, share your career at the Hilburn Career Rodeo!

The Hilburn Academy Career Rodeo will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Friday, March 15 at school. You are invited to participate and share information about your career with Hilburn students. This indoor/outdoor interactive career fair is for K-8th grade students. Your participation would involve setting up a table/booth in our multipurpose room (4th-8th grade) OR a vehicle in our bus loop (K-3rd grade) to provide all students with an interactive experience and information about your career.

1. Get Your Yearbook: Yearbooks are on sale now. To purchase the 2018-2019 yearbook, go to ybpay.lifetouch.com and enter the code 10433819 before March 30. Yearbooks start at $20 with options to customize.

2. Yearbook Photos Needed: If you have high quality photos that demonstrate engaging school activities with a variety of students (not just your lovely darling), then please select a few and upload to this site: community.lifetouch.com with the code JEFTGV. If you used the site last year, you will need to enter the new code for this year.

Walking Wednesday is Feb. 13

Hilburn Academy's monthly Walking Wednesday is on Feb. 13. Students who are not already walkers are encouraged to walk to school from the satellite drop off area at Raleigh Grande. Students can walk together with chaperones at 7:35 a.m., 7:45 a.m. and 7:55 a.m. Also, PTA helps organize volunteer chaperones to walk with each group. Do you recycle? Want to help Hilburn?

Do you recycle? Are you environmentally conscious? Would you like to help at Hilburn, but have limited time? Then this opportunity is for you! We need a parent volunteer to ship used printer cartridges collected at school to a recycling center once per quarter (less than 1 hour each time). These donations raise money for the Hilburn Academy PTA and keep potentially toxic supplies out of our landfills. Please contact Julia Woodward for more details (call/text 919-345-0480).
Shipping to Funding Factory is free, and the coordinator prints a UPS label.
