shop hours: Monday 5-8 Tuesdays, Thursdays*, Sundays: 10-3 ( * closed Thursday, Feb 7, for the Sock Retreat) It sure has been a c-o-l-d January, and the groundhog is peeking out this morning to check on his shadow. Punxsutawney Phil did NOT see it in Pennsylvania, so maybe an early spring? Since the sun is out here, it looks like 6 more weeks of winter for US at this point. No matter, there is a smorgasbord of knitting projects waiting to get done. I LOVE this time of year as it allows for lots of chair sitting/fire tending/cooking/knitting/sewing/weaving/you name it! This Thursday, we will spend 48 glorious hours at the WON DHARMA RETREAT CENTER in Claverack , NY, knitting socks, and stretching with a knitting yoga teacher while being wonderfully fed and kept warm on heated floors (!) This retreat is perfect for beginning knitters and experienced ones, as well as beginning yoga students. Options are available to commute each day, so check it out. View from Won Dharma Retreat Center (last sign up date is Tuesday...) We have a few classes this month, and Knit Nite is back after weather destroyed our best intentions to meet in January! It looks like the group is planning to knit The Celtic Plait Aran, and the Lusekofte, both Countrywool sweater patterns. The Aran will start in mid February (if not earlier), and the Lusekofte in early spring. The group is also toying with the idea of a brioche project. Keep in mind, there is no fee for Knit Nite if you use yarns purchased at Countrywool, but you are cheerfully welcome with any yarns for a small fee. Full Moon Finish details A monthly clinic to help you sew up, block and tidy your knitting and crocheting. Sunday, February 17 11 am-12 noon Spin A Yarn: details Sunday, February 24 10 am - 1 pm looking ahead to April... check out our annual Spring Knitting Retreat on Cape Ann in Massachusetts we still have 3 spots available... Calling all charity knitters. The Claverack Library has graciously offered to host weekly KNIT INS on Wednesday afternoons, 1-3, to work on charity knitting projects for the homeless and less fortunate and at the VA in our area. We need your help to knit/crochet/sew for our needy neighbors. Lots of patterns, yarns and cheery conversation await you! All skill levels are welcome. If you ever worked on knitting fish for our afghans, we can use some more. 7"x9" squares for afghans are also needed.
Knit and spin (and crochet and weave and quilt) on! Claudia
