Global Threat to Wildlife

Join the Peninsula Chapter of World Affairs on Wednesday February 6, 2019, to learn about the Global Threat to Wildlife: Consequences for Ecosystems and Humans. Roldolf Dirzo, Bing Professor in Environmental Science at Stanford University, will share his insights on the impacts of wildlife decline. He will also discuss his current field work in Mexico and Kenya, as well as approaches to reversing wildlife loss through collaboration with indigenous communities.

The program is co-sponsored by the Los Alto Public Library.

Bay Area League Day
At the 2018 national convention, a priority and call for action to increase Diversity, Equity and Inclusion within the Leagues was established. League Day will support this priority with the theme for the day being Diversity-Equity-Inclusion in the Bay Area: Region in Action-Equity in Practice?

We will be honored to have as the primary speaker, Victoria Kase who is the new CEO for the National League.

This educational event on California’s Gun Violence Restraining Order is meant to increase awareness around this important and underused tool to reduce gun deaths in our community. It should be of interest to family law and criminal law attorneys, domestic violence counselors, faith leaders, mental health professionals, social workers, law enforcement, families with people who own guns and anyone concerned with gun violence.

Moderator: John J. Donohue III, Professor of Law, Economist, and the C. Wendell and Edith M. Carlsmith Professor of Law at Stanford Law School.

Housing Committee Meeting Our chapter's Housing Committee regular meeting is the second Thursday of the month.  The committee works locally in Mountain View and Los Altos to promote more Below Market Rate units and other city zoning and commercial development policies that increase affordable housing.
