Quick Update

It's been a full week, and tomorrow we leave for Florida, then on to Cuba. We are so grateful for the outpouring of love and the prayers offered up for our family as we've navigated these unchartered waters of Gramma Dottie's final days on earth.

As mentioned in our last email, Gramma had a severe stroke last Saturday. She rallied a little bit, then on Thursday she had another stroke. This one has left her more non-responsive and somewhat restless. Hospice has taken over the direction of her care, and have left Bay's sister with meds that are keeping her comfortable and much more peaceful. The one consistent with Gramma through all of this last week is that she knows where she wants to go (heaven!) and she is ready! When she could verbalize it, she did so often. Now that she's less responsive, when she hears about heaven she nods. Because we know her heart's desire, we are asking Jesus to intervene. We are not praying for her death; we are praying for her LIFE...LIFE that is abundant and free and filled with joy in the presence of her Savior.

Below you will see two pictures. Both were taken on Wednesday at Ottawa University in Surprise (NW Phoenix), AZ. Bay spoke at chapel, giving a strong evangelistic message, as requested by our event host. Chapel at Ottawa is a high energy event, with enthusiastic worship, and around 700 students and staff in attendance (picture on left). As Bay often does, when he feels so led by the Lord, he gave students a chance to pray to receive Christ as their Savior, then to acknowledge that decision by taking a stand for Him. We both believe the Lord is looking for warriors who will not be ashamed to say "I belong to Jesus, and I am not ashamed!" Because it was a fairly dark room, it was hard to get an accurate account, but we both thought somewhere around 50 students took that challenge and stood saying they had prayed the prayer that Bay led in, and wanted to be a warrior for the Lord.

And, now, we are packed and ready to begin our mission to Cuba... We will miss being with family during these next few days. We're most certain that Gramma will probably be called home before we return. You can read more about our thoughts on this here at this link on Peg's blog:  https://peg-justathought.blogspot.com/2019/01/the-one-about-my-mother-in-love.html

As always, we covet your prayers. We can do nothing apart from the Lord...so may His grace and favor be on us as we go. That is our prayer!
