February 2019 Newsletter

Welcome to a brand New Year.

Next Club night is on Thursday 7 February starting at 7.30 pm in Classroom 1, St John Ambulance Station, Hatea Drive, Whangarei.

Please bring along a print to enter the Best Holiday Shot competition, which will be judged on the floor.
Also bring along any items you might want to show in a Tech Talk - we all love gadgets so would love to see what Santa brought you.
Tonight you should upload a photo of your Self Assignment and entries for the Open competition.
The Self Assignment is 3-5 images mounted on a 16 x 20 board on a theme you have chosen for yourself. Presentation is very important. Good luck! There is a $2 fine for non-entries, so it's worth making the effort for this competition.

New Treasurer

Following the AGM, we have a new treasurer for the club. Welcome to Michael Nogowczyk.
Other officers remain the same. Peter Todd has resigned from the committee. Thanks for your contributions to the club, Peter.

CLUB OUTINGS

Here are some fun outings to pop in your diary.

Northland's wild West coast
March 15, 16, 17 2019

Join your fellow photographers for a weekend at the Kauri Coast Top 10 Holiday Park
The park has a range of accommodation options, including campervans, tent sites and cabins.
Nearby is Trounson Kauri Park, kiwi walks, Bayley's Beach and Kai Iwi Lakes.
Come for a day or whole weekend.

Winter Wonderland
June/July 2019

After a long hot summer, we figure you might be keen to try and find some snow. So we're heading down to National Park, probably staying in Pipers Lodge and will have easy day walks to the many gorgeous places around the mountains.

Tiritiri Matangi Island
August/September 2019

This popular trip to the bird-filled island of Tiritiri Matangi is held annually. Go on a day trip or spend a few days on the island to really get close to nature.

Christmas Barbecue

The Christmas barbecue at Whangarei Falls was a very pleasant evening with shared salads and other goodies at one of the large new picnic tables. Thanks to all who attended.

The Christmas photo competition was won by Donna Russell with her "Santa Tui", and Rose Tanta
u was runner up.
