A New Look - For the Newsletter, Website and our Logo
The observant among you will have noticed a new header for the newsletter, and a change of colour to the text.   This is not just the editor having a 'moment', but the result of a lot of work behind the scenes to standardise our logo across the club.   Many years of everyone doing 'their own thing'  meant that every printed poster and logo looked slightly different, so we have worked hard to bring the logo a little up to date, and standardise it across the club.   Below you will see some posters for various upcoming events.  These are now colour coded for you, so mainly red is a warning of a hazard (eg algae), whilst orange relates to training, yellow to youth news, purple to social, blue to club racing, green for open meetings and navy for Sailability.  We hope you will find these easy on the eye, and eventually easy on the brain to identify the different sections of the club.

If you are a club member who has formerly created your own posters for club events, your life has just become much easier, as our graphics guru, Rich will do it all for you in the new templates, and then will even put the posters up for you around the club.  You can contact Rich on  richard.croucher@outlook.com
to give him the information you need included and when the poster is agreed between you, send it on to me for inclusion in the newsletter.  (newsletter@papercourt-sc.org.uk)

Quiz Night - Saturday 16th March, 2019 - 7.30pm

The next of our ever popular quiz nights is on Saturday 16th March.   Served up with a Posh Ploughman's Supper, with prizes, spot prizes, and lots of laughter, this is primarily an evening for adult members.  You can quiz alone, in ones or twos, or any number up to teams of eight.   If you are not in a pre-made team, we will team you up with the brainy people!   Tickets must be booked in advance as this is a catered event, so book by emailing snowmail@btinternet.com as soon as possible.   Tickets £10.00 per person.

This quiz will support our own Papercourt Sailability

Work Party - Sunday 3rd March from 9.00am

This is when we all get together to make the club spick and span for the start of the new sailing season.  There are plenty of jobs for everyone, old or young.  Indoor jobs, outdoor jobs, big jobs and small jobs.  Come along and lend a hand, and you will get a free delicious lunch as well as a satisfied feeling of jobs well done.   If you need to know more, or have spotted something around the club that needs doing, please contact John on john_brenda@pantings.plus.com or text John on 07999338616.

Signal from the Sailing Secretary

More Wind and Less Weed

if you have had the  pleasure of walking around or sailing on our lake you can not but  have noticed that our contractors have been hard at work.  Much of the growth over the last two years has been cut back in addition to clearing any dead or dying trees and shrubs.  This is all part of our maintenance plan and has greatly enhanced views around the lake which have been extremely well received by the walkers, dog walkers and runners.  It has also had the most important benefit of allowing more wind over the lake, thereby improving our sailing.

Following on from the success last year, we have already commenced the programme of harrowing the lake bottom in the weedy areas.  This sets back the weed growth without disrupting the ecology of the lake, making sailing much better in the summer.
