Upcoming Programs & Events

School-wide Spelling Bee (Finalists, Grades 3, 4, 5) - Tues, 2/5 @ 8:20 - 11 AM @ Library
Classroom spelling bees took place last week in grade 3, 4 & 5 classrooms and two finalists from each move on to the school-wide Spelling Bee. Parents are welcome to attend but please be aware that it's standing room only - seats are reserved for finalists' families.
The School-wide Spelling Bee will take place as follows on 2/5:
3rd Grade @ 8:20 - 9:00, 4th Grade @ 9:05 - 9:45, 5th Grade @ 9:50 - 10:20
Finals (champions for each grade level) @ 10:30-11:00 
*These times are all subject to change by 10-15 minutes.

The First Place winner of the Finals will progress on to the Los Angeles Regional Spelling Bee. Congratulations and good luck to all of Robinson's finalist!!

Please join us for the 1st Robinson Parent Book Group!  Margot Parker, MA, social emotional wellness and parenting expert, and longtime school counselor and administrator, will facilitate an engaging, hands-on discussion on the book, "UnSelfie: Why Empathetic Kids Succeed in Our All About Me World." by Michele Borba, PhD. This is a great opportunity to support our children's social and emotional development through a lively discussion in a positive learning environment.  All are welcome. 
19th Annual Family Fun Run, Sun. 3/16 @ 8AM, Robinson Blacktop
Lace up your sneakers...registration for the Family Fun Run is now OPEN! Click here to sign up for the event.  This event is open to students, family members, and the Robinson community!!  Interested in sponsoring the event? Contact Chelsea Zielin for a 2019 Sponsorship Form. Not a runner? We still need you! We are looking for volunteers to staff the race course the morning of the Fun Run. City of MB Concerts in the Park – Teen Bands Wanted - Entries Due 2/4
Manhattan Beach’s renowned Concerts in the Park is looking for teen bands to open this summer’s acts! Entries are due by February 4 – click here for details!
Mira Costa Softball Camp, 2/9 @ 9AM - 1PM, Mira Costa Varsity Field
Participate in a high energy softball camp with the Mira Costa players and coaching staff. Players 6U - 14U will take part in defensive drills, batting, game situations and concentrated skills stations. Click here for more information.
A Conversation with Civil Rights Icon Terrence Roberts of the Little Rock Nine, 2/12 @ 6:30 - 8 p.m., Mira Costa High School Aud
Sixty years ago, nine black students attended their first full day of school at Central High School in Little Rock, Arkansas. This landmark effort to desegregate the all-white school played a pivotal moment in the U.S. Civil Rights Movement. Dr. Terrence Roberts, one of the Little Rock Nine, will speak about the importance of understanding the history of segregation and civil rights to combat racism and discrimination today. Costa Volleyball Camp for Boys and Girls - 2/20 @ 9-12, MBMS Gym
Click here to sign up for the 6th Annual Mira Costa Boys Volleyball Holiday Camp! For beginners to advanced players ages 9 to 14. Coached by the Varsity team, with special instruction from Costa's head coach and AVP pro, Avery Drost. Low player-to-coach ratio & kids placed in age and skill groups.
MBX Foundation – Beyond the Classroom
MBX Foundation operates as a “community foundation” for over 40 booster clubs at Mira Costa and MBMS – including sports, performing arts, extra-curricular programs, after-school camps and summer school.
