Top of the Line at ESU 9
Cindy Paczkowski and Lynda Rempel were nominated for the Top of the Line Award by the Professional Development Department. They were nominated in the category of “Inspire.” Recognition in this area relates to new, creative, and innovative ideas that go above and beyond regular responsibilities or duties
This is what the PD Team had to say…
“We would like to nominate Lynda and Cindy for the Top of the Line Award. Lynda and Cindy were a tremendous help in decorating our new office building. They took time out of their busy days to pick out furniture and other office fixtures to give our office a great look! They also helped the PD team out by hanging the student artwork throughout the building. We appreciate everything they have done!”
Congratulations, Cindy and Lynda!

….and the missing ingredient is …...LOVE!
When insomniacs get desperate enough, they watch reruns on the Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN). Yep, it’s that bad sometimes.
This was me a few years ago. I sat on the couch, and channel surfed. When I found our favorite Chicagoan, I could tell the rerun was old by the style of her hair (and the hairstyle of her guest). Think 1980s.
Oprah was interviewing a man named Gerald G. Jampolsky. He had written a book entitled: Love is Letting Go of Fear. As the interview progressed, I found myself getting more interested in their conversation and the book. So, I got online and downloaded it so I could learn more.
Jampolsky writes that there are really only two emotions. Those two emotions are “love” and “fear.” Sounds crazy, right? How can anyone not include anger, frustration, happiness, sadness, etc.? However, when Jampolsky and Oprah gave examples, it made me start to think. What do people really fear when they are angry or frustrated? What do people really fear when they feel disgust, saddeness, etc.? The next time you experience these types of emotions, stop and ask yourself, “What do I really fear?” In almost every case, you will find the answer.
The flip-side, of course, is love, a word that is difficult to define. Which brings us to Rule #8 found in the book The Energy Bus: “Love Your Passengers.” To be clear, the definition of love in this case isn’t the “love” found in Bette Midler’s song, The Rose. It simply means the following:
- Make Time For Your Coworkers
- Listen to Them
- Recognize Them
- Serve Them, and
- Bring Out the Best in Them
You simply have to be intentional in your efforts. Sure, it might take a few minutes of your precious time, but if you do make the investment, your bus will keep moving towards its destination.

CWNP News
Heather Witte
Despite the blustery weather on January 19th & 20th, Weekend to Sign sponsored by CWNP Regional Program for students who are deaf and hard of hearing was a huge success! This event took place at Central Community College from 12:00 - 6:00 on the 19th and 8:30 - 11:30 on the 20th. Thirty-two parents and professionals participated and enjoyed learning American Sign Language from Teachers of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, Cindy Koch and Abbey Buettgenbach. There were many engaging activities and each participant came away with useful hands on materials and greater knowledge about deaf culture and sign language. The countdown is already on for the next Weekend to Sign!
