Featured Story: How to develop and choose a team of students to attend the SRS


Students doing GLOBE CloudsTeachers have many ways of using GLOBE in their classroom and of selecting a team of students to attend the U.S. Regional Student Research Symposia (SRS). In this news story, five U.S. teachers share their experience and ideas, including promoting "participation of students who have less opportunity for these experiences and events", choosing students that "demonstrate a commitment to their projects throughout the year, not just at the beginning or end of the projects." or "show the highest level of motivation and commitment to the projects and research that we are conducting."

  • Registration for all SRS regions are now live! The registration for each region can be accessed by going to the SRS calendar, then clicking on the name of your region. Note: A parent/guardian MUST register their own child.
  • The 2019 SRS Review Feedback Forms (formerly rubrics) and recognition categories are now available on the website. Use them as a reference as students develop their SRS projects and to practice presentations and peer review.
  • Did you miss the January Teacher Watercooler? Watch it here! GLOBE teacher Vicky Gorman, talks about getting started with GLOBE, her student-led Citizen Science Education Program (CSEP) and their experiences at the SRS and GLE.

Dr. Nektaria Adaktilou from West Virginia University will compare the data collected by her students in Morgantown, WV to the LandSat overpass. Dr. Diana Johns, a GME teacher at Crestwood High School in Dearborn, MI will share some tips on how to get your students to analyze their data and her students’ participation in the IVSS. Register here!

GLOBE Project Web Manager Cornell LewisSRS Webinar: How to Upload your data. February 20, 7:00pm ET. Join GLOBE Project Web Manager, Cornell Lewis, to learn how to upload your data to the GLOBE website, and to ask your questions. Uploading data to the website is essential for participating in the SRS, and also a great way to contribute to the millions of measurements used by scientists and students world-wide!
