LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION
People often ask if the locations I use in my books are actual places. The answer is often: Yes! Even when I don't use an actual named location, such as a highway, a shopping mall, or a park, I'll often base one of my locations on a real place, then take a few liberties to adapt it to the story. What you see below is a picture of the actual marina that inspired the place where James Carter's boat, the Alicia C, is docked, on Bayside Drive in Newport Beach, CA. Longtime readers will also recognize this marina as the home for the Kirsten D, the boat owned by Hal Dwyer, hero of Poised to Kill.
