At the end of 2018 we said farewell to David Osborn who has been the GT Chair for the last 6 years and with David's departure we welcome our new Chair - Paul Hooper who was a Councillor with the Ararat Rural City having served as Mayor for 6 terms and is an experienced business operator.
We are extremely excited to announce the appointment of Sarah Myers as our new Marketing & Brand Manager for Grampians Tourism. Sarah is an experienced industry professional who will help GT navigate the latest in marketing and business strategy.

More Australians are discovering the Grampians Region than ever before as visitor stats for the year ending September 2018 show that Grampians Region leads the state in increases in domestic visitor nights (+34.4%) and visitor expenditure (31.9%) and third in the state for growth in domestic visitor numbers (+15.4%). Some excellent results for our region and well done to all the hardworking Grampians tourism operators!
Our team will be based in Horsham on the 21st February and if anyone is interested in learning more about Grampians Tourism or have ideas to help promote our destination please drop into the Horsham Visitor Information Centre and say G'day.
Our region continues to deliver amazing events with the Grampians Music Festival (GMF) being held from the 15-17 February. GMF is bringing the best new up-and-coming bands from across the country to the sunny valley in Halls Gap. Expect big mountains, huge sounds, new mates and a whole lot of dancing “The Grampians Way”.
We have an exciting year ahead and we’re looking forward to building closer relations with our industry and trade partners and continuing to increase visitation across our region.

GRAMPIANS TOURISM WELCOMES NEW BOARD CHAIR, PAUL HOOPER
Former Ararat Rural City Council mayor Paul Hooper will take on the position as board chair.
Mr Hooper has significant experience serving on boards, serving as East Grampians Health Service director, sitting on the Lake Fyans committee of management as well as serving six terms as the Ararat Rural City mayor in a lengthy council career among other notable roles.
“It is a marvelous part of the world we live in and it will be great to help in bringing more and more people here,” he said.
He said the “sky is the limit” as to how much tourism in the Grampians region can grow.
“Ultimately tourism is a great economic driver for our part of world, the more tourists the more opportunities for employment and exposure and for betterment of the broader community,” he said.

We are extremely excited to announce the appointment of Sarah Myers as our new Marketing & Brand Manager for Grampians Tourism. Sarah is an experienced senior professional who will help GT navigate the latest in marketing and business strategy.
Sarah has always had an interest in business and brands and she is especially intrigued by the ‘why’ behind brands. After completing a Bachelor of Business in Marketing at RMIT and travelling the world, she worked for over a decade to create, develop and grow brands within large organisations in Melbourne, learning and developing from some of the best in the business.
Sarah is a strategic marketer with a proven ability to deliver, through the development of marketing and business plans that are based on insightful consumer and commercial understanding. She brings strong leadership skills and experience, and the capability to develop meaningful strategic plans that result in commercial success.
Some of the brands Sarah has previously worked for include Cadbury, Cottee’s, Penfold’s, Wynns Coonawarra Estate, MARS Confectionery, Visit Ballarat and Sovereign Hill to name a few.
Sarah is looking forward to the challenge of working alongside Grampians Tourism partners including winemakers, food producers, accommodation providers, attractions and local government where she will be able to apply core marketing principals with innovative, strategic thinking.

EOY SEPTEMBER 2018 NATIONAL VISITOR SURVEY RESULTS
Visitor stats for the year ending September 2018 have been released by Tourism Research Australia (TRA) and the Grampians region continues to experience the strongest domestic visitor nights (+34.4%) and expenditure (31.9%) year-on-year growth rates for the state and third in the state for growth in total visitor numbers (+15.4%).
