THE JOYS OF GROWING BOLDER

Throughout her entire career, Carol Burnett has been a pioneer and inspiration. Now 85, she's touring the country and playing to sell-out crowds. Before Burnett, no one thought a woman could carry a comedy show. She changed their minds, and these days, she's proving comedy also has no age limits.

Can't get enough Carol? See how she contributed to the careers of some other Growing Bolder guests and friends:

  • Vicki Lawrence was discovered at the age of 17 in the most unusual way. Her uncanny resemblance to Carol Burnett actually brought Carol herself to a local pageant Vicki was competing in, all because Carol had a “hunch.” The rest is history. Vicki went on to become an integral part of Carol’s ground-breaking and legendary show, “The Carol Burnett Show.”
Happy 83rd birthday to American icon Alan Alda! This week, he celebrated the big day and he was honored with the Life Achievement Award at the 25th annual Screen Actors Guild Awards. Alda was a recent guest on the Growing Bolder Radio Show, and he told us he is committed to breaking down the communication barriers that threaten to continue dividing us all. Listen to our fascinating conversation with the man who says he just may be the world's oldest millennial!
Get ready for an all new season of Growing Bolder on public televisions! Season 5 airs this spring (watch two sneak peeks here!), and you can catch Season 4 on a local station or online at growingbolder.com/tv right now.

GROWING BOLDER SOAPBOX

Our lives are becoming increasingly non-linear with respect to major life events. We can go to school, change careers, start a new business or pursue a new relationship at any age. So, gear up for what's next.
Many people over 50 say they regret not traveling more, and would do it more if they had an extra 30 years. News flash: you do have an extra 30 years. See how travel can charge your spiritual and creative batteries.
If you want to keep moving, you have to keep moving. That statement sounds simple but it provokes some interesting reactions from many people. So why do we exercise? Why should we exercise? Here are the answers.

DEFY THE CULT OF YOUTH

When it comes to aging, we’re all victims of brainwashing -- deceived by an ageist culture, misled by the media, lied to by Hollywood and Madison Avenue. It’s time to fight back. If we change our beliefs about growing older, we can change the way we age. Marc Middleton shares how to do it … no matter how old you are.

We are thrilled to announce that Growing Bolder: Defy the Cult of Youth, Live with Passion and Purpose is now available! Learn more, read advance praise, and then place your order here. Interested in a bulk order? Email us.

CONGRATULATIONS, DR. MASSON!

Congratulations to Growing Bolder Medical Director Dr. Robert Masson, who realized a dream this past weekend. Dr. Masson, founder of the Masson Spine Institute, made his debut in the Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona in the Performance Tech Motorsports No. 38 Oreca LMP2, finishing second in the LMP2 class to earn a spot on the podium in the one of the world's premier sportscar races.

Dr. Masson drove with his son, Kyle Masson (the team captain), and Cameron Cassels and Kris Wright. Dr. Masson’s meteoric rise to the highest level of professional sports car racing just four years after driving a race car for the very first time is nothing short of phenomenal. And the fact that he did it in the same car as his son is unprecedented.

Masson’s car featured the logo of Be The Match, the world's largest blood marrow database. Dr. Masson has been tapped by Be the Match to reinvent the procedure for blood marrow donation and transplantation.
