- Urgie's Bar at the Carriage House has opened—check out our blog post we did on them here!
- Tots Ice Cream has just opened next to Valley Jump Park in Penn Laird. They offer homemade ice cream made daily and milkshakes.
- Want to try another burger option in Harrisonburg? BurgerIM has opened off of University Blvd. Don't want to leave the house? They are also now part of Uber Eats!
- Frisky Feet—a compression sock company—is now selling fun and brightly patterned socks online.
- A new visitor center has opened in the Valley Mall. It's self-service and offers an interactive map, free travel information, and information about area amenities.
- Looking for something fun and artsy to do with your sweetheart on Valentine's Day? Attend the Cupid Crawl—a fundraiser hosted by the Arts Council of the Valley that will take a walking tour of art downtown.
- Tired of driving around downtown Harrisonburg looking for a parking spot or moving your car every 2 hours? There are changes coming to the parking decks on Elizabeth and Water Streets that will (hopefully) help. Learn more about what's coming here!
- The long awaited Northend Greenway project has begun!
- The Shenandoah Valley Child Development Center is open for registration. Learn more here!
- Soil Cycles HVA is a bicycle powered compost hauling system for residents and businesses in Harrisonburg. A great bonus? You get finished compost delivered back to your home and garden!
- After the existing dog park at Smithland suffered from constant flooding last summer, they are creating a new enclosure on higher ground. The new Smithland dog park is scheduled to open this summer.
- Hotel Madison is hosting an educational wine tasting experience February 22nd-24th. Learn more about the Winter Wine Weekend here!
- Artful Dodger—a staple for night life on Court Square—has closed. Panos has also closed after 26 years in business.

Urgie's Bar
Urgie's Bar has officially opened their doors in the Carriage House at 245 E. Water Street! Founded and owned by two brothers from Philadelphia, Tommy and Steven Urglavitch had a dream to open a neighborhood bar that offered a comfortable and inviting vibe for everyone to come hangout, get a drink, and enjoy some authentic Philly cheesesteaks.
