Welcome to 2019! 

We hope you had a great break and have started the new year on a high!

We're excited for a big year, with rehearsals beginning next week and the week after for our choristers (specific dates for each ensemble's first rehearsal are noted below).

If you haven't already enrolled for this year, please ensure you do so now so you don't miss out on any rehearsals. We still have some availability across our ensembles.

It's going to be a massive year with the calendar filling quickly with great opportunities for our choristers. 

In April, many of our Birralee Blokes and Brisbane Birralee Voices choristers will embark on a tour to Europe, with a highlight performing at the Anzac Day commemorations at the Australian National Memorial, France. This event will mark the final service of our five-year commitment with the Department of Veterans' Affairs. Surrounding this performance, our choristers will also venture to Croatia, Italy and more. 

I'm particularly excited this year is a touring year for our Birralee Singers, and they will venture to Perth in September. Any parents who have children aged 10 - 13 should consider this year as the year to join the Birralee Singers! 

We look forward to other highlights for 2019 and will communicate them here as they arise!

ARTISTIC TEAM ANNOUNCEMENT 
Welcome Katie Littlewood as Birralee Kids Conductor 

In a special creative team announcement, we're delighted that Katie Littlewood, previously accompanist for the Birralee Kids, will this year take on the role of Conductor of the ensemble. 

This announcement, comes with some sadness as we farewell the wonderful Katherine Ruhle who had an unexpected change in her personal circumstances. 

We are very excited to have Katie on board as conductor, who many of Birralee's young choristers would already know. Katie's experience in schools and her private studio, combined with her warm and engaging manner with the children, will ensure that our Kids have another fabulous year.

The Birralee Kids will be accompanied on piano by a new addition to the team, Connie Lien. Welcome Connie!

QYMA NEWS! 

Attention music teachers in the Birralee community! 

Voices of Birralee manages the annual Queensland Youth Music Awards, to be held 1 May - 6 June 2019. 

The competition has run for 52 years and celebrates giving students in both primary and secondary schools the opportunity to explore their choral and instrumental music, in a supportive environment.
