North Kelvin Community Council News

February 2019

Hello and welcome to our first newsletter of 2019!

Our next meeting will be on Tuesday 5th February, 6.30pm, at St Charles Church Hall, 1 Kelvinside Gardens, G20 6BG. As usual, the meeting is open to all residents. The meeting agenda is posted on our website.

One item on the agenda is the proposed new primary school. The formal planning application has not yet been lodged so the plans themselves are not yet available to view (watch this space), but see our website for an update.

The Scottish Parliamentary Working Group on Tenement Maintenance has produced a report proposing

  • compulsory 5-yearly property inspections
  • compulsory owners associations
  • compulsory sinking funds

They are keen to get flat-owners' views. You can respond to the proposals by filling in the survey (the survey includes a link to the interim report). Closing date 27th Feb.

If you're interested in allotments, food growing, green space and so on, one of the local Glasgow Food Growing Strategy workshops may be for you: Thursday 28 February and 28 March 2019. Details including how to book are on our website.

There's still time to catch one of the Celtic Connections concerts at the Mackintosh Church. Last one is Sunday 3rd Feb.

Finally, the Seamore Neighbourhood Cinema is putting on a show, Our Maryhill, as part of this year's Glasgow Film Festival. Sunday 3rd March, 12 noon; tickets are free, first come first served on the day.
