News and updates from mission driven communications agency, Movement Media

Victory For Hemp!

2019 started strong for our team. We marked a major milestone on January 7, with the Victory for Hemp! Press Conference that we organized on behalf of Vote Hemp at the Eaton Hotel in downtown DC. We celebrated this major victory for the hemp advocacy movement with key leaders and activists from around the country, marking the federal legalization of hemp farming in the US through the 2018 Farm Bill, signed into law on December 20, 2018, which removed hemp from the Controlled Substances Act.

Our client of many years, Vote Hemp, the nation’s leading grassroots organization dedicated to the legalization of hemp farming in the United States, were instrumental in this victory. Vote Hemp lobbied State and Federal legislators on the legalization of hemp farming for nearly 20 years, our team has been right alongside them for over a decade, publicizing this important work, working diligently and struggling to change public perception and understanding to make this policy change possible and popular. The fight has paid off. Victory for hemp is here.

The growth and success of Movement Media has been uniquely tied to the fight to allow US farmers to grow hemp. My former business Mintwood Media, forged the relationships we share with Dr. Bronner’s and Vote Hemp as well as other clients through the movement for hemp policy change. Read more on this history, here. Below we share links to Vote Hemp’s official press release and the recorded live stream from the Victory for Hemp! Press Conference and Panel Program to learn more about what is next for the hemp movement. This spring we will promote another victory event in San Diego, CA in celebration of the 10th Annual Hemp History Week from June 3-9!

In other Movement Media news, we welcomed Walker Grooms to our staff as Operations Manager as Jazmín Rumbaut departed to pursue her social justice-oriented interpreting business full time. Best wishes, Jazmín! You will be missed. Welcome Walker, great to have you aboard.

Cheers,
Ryan Fletcher
