January / February 2019

Hello and welcome to the first edition of our 2019 Monthly Leadership Tips: your 'once a month'  'bite-sized' chunks of practical leadership wisdom! We hope the new year has started well for you all and 2019 is filled with great experiences and results!

You may have noticed we've changed the style of the newsletter to 'freshen it up' a bit! All the newsletters will now start with a 'Leadership Bite', where we feature one of our many info-visuals and provide a brief overview of the concept, why it is useful and how to apply it. Each of these 'bites' can be printed off as a PDF. Feel free to use it in team meetings, coaching sessions or workshops! We then also share a couple of blogs that we think you'll find of value.

This month we share :
  • Leadership Bites - the PERMA theory of wellbeing
  • Tips for having difficult conversations
  • A recent video from Simon Sinek exploring why consistency and 'the little things' matter most in leadership and relationships
Found something useful? Why not pay it forward and share a copy with your colleagues! Forward a copy of this email or send this link to join the DiA Monthly Leadership Tips list!

We also use the content we share each month, in the work we do in our consulting practice. Feel free to get in touch to find out more about anything in this newsletter or other blogs on our website.  Enjoy!

How to prepare for and conduct a difficult conversation

We all, from time to time, have a situation that requires us to have what is often termed a 'difficult conversation'. Whether it be with a direct report who isn't meeting performance expectations, our manager when we are not feeling sufficiently supported in our role, or with a client / stakeholder about their expectations versus what you believe you can deliver.

It's the little things - why consistency matters in leadership and relationships

‘It’s the little things that matter most.’ We have all heard this line before, and many of you will have even shared this wisdom with others. But how tuned in are you to the little things that are part of your practice? And more importantly, can you honestly say, hand on heart, that you do them consistently…not most of the time, or more often that not, but every day?

Click here to watch a terrific 4.5 min interview with Simon Sinek exploring the importance of consistency in leadership and relationships.
