Southend Carers Groups for Carers
At Southend Carers we have regular groups where carers can socialise and meet other carers who may be in a similar situation to themselves.
Our weekly ‘CARERS WAVES’ group
A small intimate group exploring ways to manage the emotional ups and downs of the caring role and how it affects you on a day to day basis.
Our monthly HEALTH and WELLBEING group
We have speakers on various subjects relevant to caring such as Dementia, Cancer plus more light-hearted sessions such as bingo and quizzes to enable carers to have fun and socialise – all with lunch thrown in!

At Southend Carers we offer FREE Counselling services on a 121 basis and groups to enable carers to be able to speak to a trained counsellor, in confidence, in a comfortable setting.
Carers are a unique group of people who provide free care for their loved ones, friends or neighbours often resulting in the carer themselves becoming unwell due to the heavy demands of their caring role.

Scope’s Local People Programme Get Together Meeting
Scope’s Local People Programme - For disabled people aged 12-65 in Southend (with any physical or mental illness, impairment or additional needs) - And unpaid carers of those people. (Including parent-carers of children aged 0-11) - And or close family members

Want to get more active?
Walking is a great way to get fit, explore what's on your doorstep and make new friends.
Project 49 are organising free and friendly short walks along Southend seafront starting at the Three Shells Beach Café (Western Esplanade, Southend-on-Sea SS1 1EE) every Friday from 10:30am for 45 minutes.
You do not have to live in Southend to take part.

Summernights Social Club Starting 22nd February...
Summercare are pleased to announce the launch of the summernights social club! SummerCare makes a positive difference to the quality of life of people with learning disabilities.
Every Wednesday you are invited to choose from a host of exciting and fun activities or just drop in for a chat with friends or make new friends. You can even buy hot and cold refreshments as well as crisps, chocolates and biscuits from our small café downstairs.

Golden-Oldies singalong with Rob Cadman
This friendly session is specifically for people living with dementia and their carers.
Join Rob Cadman for an hour of fun and laughter on the FOURTH WEDNESDAY of the month. Golden-Oldies singalong session funded by Southend BC.

World Cancer Day - 4 February 2019
World Cancer Day is a day to unite in the fight against cancer. Every Unity Band worn, every pound donated and every gesture of support will play an important part of beating cancer sooner.
The funds raised from incredible people like you will support thousands of scientists, doctors and nurses to accelerate progress in the fight against over 200 cancer types.

Tinnitus Awareness Week 4-10 February 2019
Tinnitus is the perception of noises in the head and/or ear which have no external source.
The British Tinnitus Association want to engage with people who have tinnitus in order to raise awareness of the impact the condition and can to having on feelings of isolation.

Time To Talk - 7 February 2019
Too often, people who experience a mental health problem are also expected to take the lead on talking about mental health in the wider sense. Time To Talk Day encourages everyone to talk about mental health.

There are 800,000 people living with dementia in the UK. Research shows that low impact exercise can be beneficial for physical and mental health and can improve the quality of life for people in all stages of dementia. Swimming in particular has the added benefits of reducing anxiety, improving mood and enhancing psychological well being.

The Southend Carers Hub is a partnership of specialist local charities who have joined together to create a one-stop-shop for carers.
Commissioned by Adult Social Care (Southend Borough Council), we believe that by working together, we can make it much easier for Carers in Southend-on-Sea to access the right practical, financial and emotional support.
