“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you, who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time” 1 Peter 1:3-5
If you have an earthly inheritance, it is not absolutely certain. There are many things in this life that can effect that inheritance. Money markets go up and down, causing property values to rise and fall. Interest rates fluctuate which in turn have bearing on invested money and indeed, pensions. Even wills at times, have been successfully contested. If you happen to die, then you will have lost all your earthly inheritance!
NOT SO WITH OUR HEAVENLY INHERITANCE! We are told in 1 Peter that our heavenly INHERITANCE in Christ is absolutely guaranteed. First we are told it is INCORRUPTIBLE, which means it will never RUST, CORRODE or DECAY. It is absolutely DEATH PROOF. I believe that is what Jesus was referring to in Matthew 6:20
“But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal”
Peter also tells us that our heavenly inheritance is UNDEFILED, which means it is absolutely SIN-PROOF. It is PERFECT and UNTARNISHED.
Lastly, Peter tells us that it NEVER FADES AWAY. It is absolutely TIME PROOF! It will never diminish in it's glory and perfection.
So, unlike any earthly inheritance, which will, over time, diminish in value, because of inflation. OUR HEAVENLY INHERITANCE which is only in JESUS CHRIST OUR LORD AND SAVIOUR, is guaranteed by God the Father to be DEATH PROOF, SIN PROOF and TIME PROOF, and yes, even INFLATION PROOF!

Although our inheritance comes to us absolutely without price, it cost our SAVIOUR everything. He left the glories of HIS FATHER'S HOUSE in heaven, to come down to this sin-filled world, being nailed to a Roman cross He poured out His blood there for you and me. Our INHERITANCE is absolutely PRICELESS, because no amount of money or earthly riches could ever pay it's cost.
I ask you all this morning,is your inheritance "Reserved in heaven for you" ? Do you know in your heart, without a shadow of doubt, that your inheritance is secure in heaven, and that one day soon you will come into it's fulness?
Remember......“For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God” Ephesians 5:5
Only in Christ is our inheritance secure. Because, when we are genuinely saved, born again by the Holy Spirit, we are.....
“ heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together” Romans 8:17
My SAVIOUR JESUS, loves you too, and longs for you to surrender your life to Him and become a JOINT HEIR of all the Father's riches in glory. He is returning very soon, to take you home to His Father's House, to the place that He is preparing for you (John 14:3) and into your INHERITANCE in Him.
