A Look Back at February...
Albion, NY is a little safer after February 2! February's Superhero Party was a super success- all in attendance enjoyed an afternoon of games, crafts, snacks, and story time!
A special 'Thank You' to the Orleans County Department of History for loaning us their display 'African American Communities of Orleans County.'
Hoag Library celebrated Black History Month with a variety of lectures, film screenings, and book discussions. The Black History Through Film movie series included showings of: Harvest of Shame, Freedom Riders, Malcolm X, Ray, and Twelve Years a Slave.
February's 'Back to the Future' Adult Breakout Room was a huge success! So popular was this event that the librarian had to host two sessions on the same day! Teens completed the same breakout room in January.
Part of the Black History Month lecture series, February's 'Tea with Dee' focused on Albion Native Henry A. Spencer, first black student at the University of Rochester, pall bearer for Frederick Douglass, and Grand Master of the Colored Masons of NYS! Be sure to join Dee on the first Tuesday of the month.
Patron Donna Wollcot used Hoag's entryway display case to showcase her knitting talent! Donna will also share her jewlery-making abilities during Hoag's TGIF Craft Day on March 29 (DIY earrings).
