Funding Opportunities
Develop a Research Experience for Undergraduate Students
The Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) program supports active research participation by undergraduate students in any of the areas of research funded by the National Science Foundation. REU projects involve students in meaningful ways in ongoing research programs or in research projects specifically designed for the REU program. Two mechanisms for support of student research exist: (1) REU Sites are based on independent proposals to initiate and conduct projects that engage a number of students in research. REU Sites may be based in a single discipline or academic department or may offer interdisciplinary or multi-department research opportunities with a coherent intellectual theme. Proposals with an international dimension are welcome. (2) REU Supplements may be included as a component of proposals for new or renewal NSF grants or cooperative agreements or may be requested for ongoing NSF-funded research projects.
Weber State has been successful in securing this funding in the past. WSU has secured NSF funding for REU’s in Biology (Interdisciplinary within the College of Science), and within the Department of Psychology.

Impactful Creative Works Funding
The National Endowment for the Arts supports creative activities to organizations and individuals. Grants support artistically excellent projects that celebrate our creativity and cultural heritage, invite mutual respect for differing beliefs and values, and enrich humanity. Specific grants support projects that extend the reach of the arts to underserved populations. In addition, the NEA, “Our Town” is the creative placemaking grants program. These grants support projects that integrate arts, culture, and design activities into efforts that strengthen communities by advancing local economic, physical, and/or social outcomes. Successful Our Town projects ultimately lay the groundwork for systemic changes that sustain the integration of arts, culture, and design into strategies for strengthening communities.
