Welcome to our first role update of 2019! Every month we will keep volunteers like you up date with new roles and organisations seeking volunteers across the region. For each role we give you a snippet of info to tease your tastebuds. For full details, click the image and you'll be taken through to the full role description where you can 'fill in an application'. This doesn't commit you to volunteering, think of it like an expression of interest and a way of connecting with organisations you want to find out about.

Wheels at Wanaka is a new "Vintage & Classic Car, Tractor, Truck, Machine, Motorbike and Earthmoving Extravaganza" to be held at Three Parks, Easter weekend 2019. With over 50 acres of entertainment Wheels at Wanaka, will be huge and fun for the whole family and they are seeking volunteers to help in a wide range of roles. Take part in this inaugural event and help make it amazing!
Otago Goldfields Heritage Trust Cavalcade is coming to Hawea this March and as the final destination of the 2019 ride, Hawea is providing the host town facilities for those re-enacting the historic Cobb & Co Coach's journey from Dunedin to the Dunstan Goldfields. A parade, market, hoedown and accommodation will be provided for everyone to enjoy and volunteers are sought to help in a variety of roles. Join the team to be part of something amazing.
Community Patrollers are volunteers working closely with Police as extra “eyes and ears” to assist Police and other agencies to build safer communities. The Queenstown Patrol was set up in 2017 and we are currently recruiting respectful and reliable volunteers for Queenstown and Arrowtown. Full training and support provided. 
If you live in Queenstown, Alzheimers Otago is looking for committed volunteers to become Activities Assistants who will work along side a Programme Coordinator to deliver Cognitive Stimulation Therapy (CST) groups for people with mild to moderate memory loss.
Alzheimers New Zealand represents people living with dementia by raising awareness of dementia, providing information and resources, advocating for high quality services, and promoting research about prevention, treatment, cure and care.
Riding for the Disabled in Alexandra require volunteers to help people with disabilities enjoy riding and grow in confidence. If you love working with all ages and enjoy being part of a great team this is for you! No experience with horse needed - full training offered!
Wanaka Well: a partnership between Central Lakes Breastfeeding Trust and Peer Support, provides a drop in for families needing breastfeeding support in Wanaka. Volunteers are needed to offer a helping hand for parents so they can talk freely with the peer supporters and includes greeting families, supplying them with refreshments, playing with children.
Relay for Life is coming to Wanaka and Queenstown in March 2019! This is a 24 hour event raising money for The Cancer Society, where teams walk or run around a track, with a variety of entertainment and activities going on throughout the day and night. Super keen and passionate people are required in a range of roles to support the delivery of this amazing fundraiser.
Each year over 100 roles are filled by an amazing team of dedicated volunteers who enable the Wanaka Trail Ride to run smoothly and safely for everyone taking part, al whilst raising money for Wanaka Primary School and Montessori Children's House Wanaka. Some roles require technical riding skills and others require no knowledge of trail rides whatsoever! Are you interested in Central Otago's unique heritage?  The Central Stories Museum and Art Gallery showcases the unique stories of the local area. These stories include geology, early explorers, social history, gold, dredging & mining, farming, orcharding, viticulture and many more besides.  The museum is recruiting volunteers to join its team in various interesting roles and welcomes your interest. 
Are you living in Cromwell and keen to make a difference in the community?  Cromwell Resource Centre is looking for three new Trustees to join its vibrant team.  The primary objectives of the Trustee role are to plan future directions for Cromwell Resource Centre development and to ensure services offered are in line with the vision, definition and mission of Cromwell Resource Centre. The Mōkihi Trust aims to restore and establish pockets of indigenous biodiversity in Cromwell and surrounding areas. It endeavours to motivate and educate the community in sustainable ecological restoration so as to enhance and restore Cromwell's indigenous ecosystems for now and future generations.  Help us re-build native habitats one plant at a time, get your hands dirty, share stories and enjoy being out in the fresh air. Sessions take place on selected Saturday's. 
Wanaka Walking School Bus has kicked off the new term in February and seeks volunteers to walk with this small group of friendly children to ensure they get to school safely, actively and on time! Options for regular shifts of relief. Start your day with some exercise and a heap of warm fuzzies knowing you’ve done your bit for the community by 9am!

Challenge Wanaka is looking for volunteers to help with the race days on Friday 15, Saturday 16 and Sunday 17 February. As well as needing support on race days, the Challenge Wanaka team also need the assistance of dedicated individuals to help in the lead up and post event. Ambulance and Events Volunteers are being sought across the region. Volunteering as both an Ambulance and Events Officer is a big commitment that provides huge rewards. By working on community events and on an ambulance your role is varied, but the focus is always on providing quality care to patients. 

 
Central Otago Primary School Sport Association are seeking volunteer marshals to assist at primary school sports such as triathlon, cross country and athletics. No experience required, just a polite and calm manner and enthusiasm, efficiency and the ability to motivate competitors. Help at as many or as few events as you like through the year. Held in Arrowtown, Queesntown, Cromwell, Alexandra and Wanaka.


“If you want to make a difference for someone, why not BE the difference.” The Buddy Programme is calling out for locals with a bit of spare time, a positive attitude and a desire to help others, to take on the role of mentoring a youngster. . Volunteers spend a few hours a week sharing every day, low cost activities together – offering experiences, relationships and skills which will assist the child (5-12years old) to make positive decisions and choices in the future.  Regionwide with a current need in Central.
The Cancer Society offers services and support to people affected by cancer in your community and can’t do it without the time and effort given by our teams of volunteers. Visitors, drivers, bakers. Share your time and skills and make a huge difference in your community. Regionwide with a current need in Wanaka. 
 
Central Otago Budgeting Service is looking to recruit volunteer budget advisors to support their small team operating from Alexandra Community House. The service aims to provide a free non-judgemental service to families and individuals within the Central Otago Area.  The service provides help to clients whilst liaising with government and social service agencies as required.
