This year’s English Today, “Doing Language” on 15 March, takes a deeper look into the many considerations editors and translators working in and out of English have to keep in mind as they go about their work. On 6 February, revisor and NEaT board member Kenneth Quek will teach a workshop for the new union Kieliasiantuntijat (formerly KAJ) to introduce this phenomenon and offer strategies for dealing with it and creating clear sentence structures. The workshop is aimed specifically at translators who work with English as their target language, and it is open to Kieliasiantuntijat members. More information here.

Help us shape the future of language professionals and the English language in the Nordics
 

NEaT will be holding its Annual General Meeting in the beginning of April (date and invitation to follow during the spring). One of the AGM’s most important tasks is to elect a new board, along with a chair and vice chair. We’re always interested in new board members! If you have a view on the work editors and translators in the Nordic countries do, and want to make a difference, then you’re an excellent candidate. No prior experience is necessary. Duties include attending 4 to 5 board meetings a year, either physically or remotely (e.g. Skype), at which the strategy and direction of the organization are decided. We’re expanding our cooperation network in all the Nordic countries, so now is an exciting time to get involved!
