Local Spring Squash Tourney

We will be hosting a small, local tourney, coming up on either
March 29-31 or April 5-7. If you have a preference for one of those weekends, let us know what works for you.

This will be a fun weekend of squash for all levels of players. The entry fee is $40, which includes Friday pizza, Saturday casual bbq, door prizes, and a 3 match minimum. All levels are welcome, for entries in Men's and Women's A, B, C, and D (novice) levels.

We encourage anyone who would like to play to sign up - if you have questions please send an email. Lessons and drills are available to encourage newer (or slightly out-of-practice) players!

Squash BC Membership

The weekly leagues we run here are sanctioned by Squash BC, and because of a policy change, all league members will have to become Squash BC members if we are going to continue to use the online system provided by Sportyhq. We have other options, as we ran leagues before we started using Sportyhq, however there are advantages to using whatever system the rest of the province is using...

As well, there are reasons to adapt, and to consider joining Squash BC. They have a page describing membership benefits here: http://www.squashbc.com/w/membership; the simplest reason to become a member may be that the fees go to support the provincial organization whose role is to promote and grow this sport.

Membership rates for adults players = 46.20 including tax, and membership runs every year to the end of October. They have a bulk membership option, and if we sign up over 50 players, the fee drops to 37.50.

So, we are looking at the potential of signing up more than 50 members to Squash BC. Most league players have indicated support, with a few expressing reservations. If you have any comments, or if you are interested in signing up and have not already indicated, let me know by email or text (250-314-9600).

Winter Squash League

The weekly squash league is running on Wednesday and Thursday evenings. We have room on Thursday evening for 1-2 players at the beginner level, and we often need subs - if you would like to play, send us an email.

Volunteers needed!

We will be at the Family Day event on February 18 from 10 am to 2 pm at the TCC, with a booth to promote squash and a chance for kids (and adults) to hit squash balls off the north wall.

If you would like to help, please email and let us know when you are available. We will need help at the table to collect emails and entries in the contest, and also will need several volunteers to help direct the balls toward the north wall.

Ongoing volunteer opportunity

River City Squash is running sessions on weekday afternoons with students from north shore schools, and Friday mornings with a home school group. Volunteers positions include coaches and supervisors, mentors, and tutors - email Dave (dclutton@telus.net) if you'd like to help in any way!

Monthly Box League

The monthly box league is online, at https://www.sportyhq.com/club/box/view/303.

The box league works well for players who can't play regularly in the weekly league, and also for those who want to get an extra game in here and there. You will have to commit to playing your matches each month, which will average about one match a week (or 4-5 in the last week, for the procrastinators).

If you are interested in playing in the box league, send us an email at info@kamloopssquash.ca.

Squash Drop-ins

Women's drop-ins: Tuesdays 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm
Co-ed drop-ins: Friday evenings from 5:45 - 7:15 pm.
Format: all levels welcome, round-robin play.
