  • Inspiration will be flowing for grass roots sport clubs in the process of applying for an Active Club Grant with VicHealth.
  • The information and ideas have been motivating attendees to kick into action with the flood of events, workshops, talks, and conferences already on offer.

Looking Back: Funding for Community Sporting Clubs

What an inspirational group of people we get to work with at AAA Play! Recently we had the pleasure of attending and live streaming some key events across the state. August 2018 saw us expand from a Melbourne metro based service, to supporting the entire state of Victoria. We have a commitment to inclusion, so it's important to us that we can ensure access to learning and development opportunities as well as events and information from wherever you are located. You can download resources, access live recorded events and more on our resources page.

If you haven't seen our past events resource page, you can check it out here.

Looking Forward: Funding for Community Sporting Clubs

February is your time to shine. Let your ideas flow and inspire. VicHealth is inviting community sport clubs to apply for an Active Club Grant. Grants for sporting clubs provide up to $3,000 or $10,000 to increase participation opportunities for Victorians in community sport (excluding GST).

Whether you’re starting programs for people with a disability, building a junior team, or simply focusing on bringing more fun to sport, your club could be eligible for an Active Club Grant. VicHealth is simply looking for good ideas to get more people active, and applying for a grant is easy.

Next funding round opens 5 February 2019.

AAA Ambassador News

AAA Play attended the first Sport Inclusion Community of Practice (CoP) of 2019. The focus of the event was on the role of the sport and recreation sector in education and meaningful employment. The event featured an exceptional line up of speakers, presenters and panel discussions, including AAA Ambassador Harry Metzger and Andre Ascui.

Harry and Andre spoke as alumni representatives of the 2018 Victoria University Polytechnic Cert II of Work Education. Harry was joined by Triathlon Victoria CEO, Grant Cosgriff and Andre was joined by Matt Haanappel, Access and Inclusion Coordinator with City of Monash. They both shared with us the experiences, challenges, and opportunities that resulted from their work placement. The full event video is available to watch on AAA Play's resource page.

During the break, we sat down with Harry, Andre, and Ayden Shaw from Disability Sport and Recreation for an informal conversation about all things inclusion.

You can watch the video of what the team had to say here.
