The Knowledge Exchange Network is a brand new project, funded by the Rank Foundation and hosted by Volunteer Dundee for two years.

Kirsty Slater is the new Business Planning Officer leading the project, “This is a great opportunity to develop something really valuable for the TSI. The ultimate goal is to develop a self-sustaining resource that makes it simple and easy to share skills and knowledge throughout the Third, Public and Private Sectors in Dundee. We want to do this by harnessing the growing interest in Corporate Social Responsibility and organisations who are Doing Social Good, while persuading others of the organisational benefits and potential return on investment. These connections will help shape a single resource that supports the Dundee TSI.”

This Scottish Governance Code has been created for the third sector, by the third sector. It is a statement of best practice and has been developed by Scotland’s Third Sector Governance Forum following consultation with over 250 individuals and organisations

Spaces are available for the next intake on our Introduction to Good Governance Programme on 20 March. This foundation programme has been developed to support small charities to strengthen their core governance. It helps charities analyse and improve their essential policies, processes, and procedures, and is a great precursor to the full Good Governance Award. DUSA "RAG Dundee" Campaign
Every year, Dundee University Students Association partners with a different local Dundee charity through its ‘RAG Dundee’ campaign.  This campaign encourages our students to get fundraising on behalf of our charity partner. This year, we’re working with the Dundee Foodbank, and have raised £5000 for them through a wide range of events, and we’ve still got five months to go!

We’re currently accepting nominations for our next partner for the academic year 2019/2020, and it could be you! To nominate your charity, go to our website at: www.dusa.co.uk/rag. The deadline for nominations is Thursday, February 8th, after which, our students will be invited to vote for the winning organization. We look forward to working with you!

New programme to provide help and support for local circular economy opportunities
Organisations in Tayside can enjoy the benefits of the circular economy with the launch of a new support programme. ‘Circular Tayside’ is a joint initiative being delivered by Zero Waste Scotland, Dundee and Angus Chamber of Commerce, Perthshire Chamber of Commerce and environmental consultancy Ricardo Energy and Environment.
The Circular Tayside initiative follows a recent research study commissioned by Zero Waste Scotland that has identified the economic potential of circular economy opportunities in the region. A Circular Economy is all about ‘making things last’.  It’s an economy in which we eradicate waste by keeping resources and products in use for as long as possible.
Circular Tayside can help with support and funding which includes fully-funded consultancy support through Zero Waste Scotland’s Circular Economy Business Support Service.  It also includes access to the £18m Circular Economy Investment Fund.
See https://circulartayside.co.uk/support-for-your-business/ for more information.
Social Enterprise Networks
Our friends at Senscot recently captured some feedback from a couple of our members, here is what they had to say about DSEN:
Members feedback

Senscot has produced a briefing paper on Social Enterprise Networks (SENs) in Scotland.  There are 16 local SENs who have over 900 social enterprises either as members of a constituted SEN or are engaged with those unconstituted.   Between them, SEN members employ around 12 000 people and have a combined turnover of over £500m.  The briefing paper can be found here
Communities
                                           Safer Internet Day 2019

The UK Safer Internet Centre invites everyone to join Safer Internet Day supporters across the globe to help create a better internet on Tuesday 5th February 2019, and throughout the whole year!
The Big Lunch in Dundee
The Big Lunch has been running in the UK since 2009 and has enjoyed participation by an average of 6 million people every year. It brings people together – it provides permission and a reason for people to connect with their neighbours and communities and to join in with something bigger. People are the key ingredient and we are hoping you will work with us to invite anyone and everyone to take part, share food and get to know their neighbours better.
So please join us at our first Task Force meeting on Friday 15th February, 1 – 2.30pm at the Baxter Pavilion, Baxter Park, Dundee.
Consultations
Scottish Government Charity Law Consultation
This consultation seeks views on potential improvements to the statutory charity regulation framework in Scotland, in light of proposals put forward by the Scottish Charity Regulator (OSCR).
