The theme will be “Picking Up the Pieces of God’s Image.” Our speaker will be Bill Pearson, PhD. He is an associate professor of Cellular Biology and Anatomy at Augusta University Medical College who has over 30 years of experience in medical ministry. He has a history with Boston. He founded the Boston Healthcare Fellowship and helped to found the Longwoood Christian Community. We are excited to hear what he has to share with us!

The following is a description of what Bill will be discussing:

From Genesis 1 we learn that humans were made in the image of God. Our intended purpose was to steward creation as a community of regents. We were not made to flourish as high performing parts of machinery. Humanity bore God’s image well until sin and corruption entered the world and distorted the image of God in us. Jesus’ mission was about restoring and even progressing the image of God in people and societies. However, we have trouble fully understanding this because we don’t share the same cosmic worldview as the Biblical writers.  Comprehending the background and elements of this Biblical narrative are critical to advancing human progress today, especially in healthcare and biomedical science. Therefore, on this retreat we will take a fresh look at the mission of Jesus while expanding our own worldview so we can be more effective imagers of God in our life and work.
