Wow / Whoa Days of the month
ASTROLOGY of the DAY

Friday • 25 JANUARY

The Moon travels through gentle Libra today and most of the energy is positive. It's a good day to get in touch with the people who can help you. If you're feeling energetic or optimistic, use it while you have it. Even if you're only experiencing a slight lightening of what has been a heavy load, it may be worth seeing what progress you can make. Or, who do you know who can help you find the silver lining to your current cloud ? Sometimes even the smallest relief can enable you to accomplish what had previously seemed just out of reach.

Yesterday’s big ideas seem even better today. Heroic Mars forms a resonant trine with extravagant Jupiter. This powerful lineup sets the stage for successful meetings and agreements on Friday. Aries and Scorpio Sun and Rising have luck on their side right now. We feel more energetic, confident, and motivated under this Transit. And this aspect boding well for success remains through the week-end, encouraging us to puruse our goals. It’s a good time to start new projects, a new workout routine, or some physical activity. This is also a good time to start or plan some sort of adventure. Take advantage of this energy while it’s available because it won’t happen again until late July.

ASTROLOGY of the WEEK

This is an eventful week. While the mood is generally competent and effective, but this week’s deep-thinking Mercury-Pluto conjunction can leave some of us in a restless funk, reviewing our inadequacies and old ghosts or feeling stuck. But fate’s wheel is turning and a change is coming in the stars. This next month is a doozy (as Mars approaches a square to Pluto and a conjunction with Uranus) but we will see movement.

The Sun squares Uranus, the changemaker, which, along with Venus and Mars now in a fire sign, leaves us allergic to the dysfunctional situations, compelled to make a difference, and help us feel discontent but we can also reach into the restlessness for help moving out of any stuck place. Let people begin the conversation on their own time, then sit back with a cup of tea because they may not stop. Negotiations may be at a temporary stalemate; a person shouldn’t bother coming back to the negotiating table unless they have something new.

The Sun enters Aquarius, the Moon enters Leo, and they oppose in a lunar eclipse at 9.15p at 0 degrees of fixed signs. Lunar eclipses can ripen and precipitate events, unstick what has been stuck, and illuminate some apparent dichotomy which needs balancing. Here we feel the debate between Aquarius and Leo, highlighting tension between our individual needs and those of a couple or the group. It calls on each of us to shine in own right, but not in a way that precludes the needs of the group, and to work with like minds for good progress, keep our egos out of the way, but let ourselves fully express.

Underneath is a river of interpersonal warmth. It’s a great week to renew the sparks with one another and remember our passion for our work or our politics. Romantic, creative Venus conjuncts expansive Jupiter in Sagittarius, they both square confusing Neptune and trine Mars in Aries, all in fire signs. It’s not a good week to ignore beloveds, so make the time and feed the best sparks in life.

We may need to rethink as Mercury squares Uranus then leaves Capricorn and enters Aquarius, which is no less stubborn than Capricorn, but can give us more room to think in the big picture. Don’t let details of recent work get lost in the wind, but do see how a larger vision can help find new solutions.

JANUARY
(including Wow & Whoa days)

We begin the year with Jupiter, Saturn, Mars and Neptune all in their home signs which lets their power shine through in a big way. We are very likely to see both sides of these planets in January as we have a complicated and busy sky that also includes two eclipses representing in many ways a continuation and an intensification of the transformational thrust of the past few weeks and months of the old dying year, and two major aspects showing up. The slow transformation that you’ve been undergoing since Uranus’ entry into Aries eight years ago will finally come to an end.

January of 2019 starts off with an explosion of energy. Mars in Aries has us all running towards something and though we may not know where we’re going, the energy coursing through us is enough to keep us going.

A Solar Eclipse on 5 January is powerful, bringing a major new beginning in your life that will have substance and long-term potential. This eclipse urges you to focus on what you would like to build in your life and what you need to eliminate.

6 January Uranus turns direct in late-degree Aries, shaking up life in a way that can either be rattling or electrifying – most likely both. An unexpected turn of events is likely.

Love planet Venus moves into Sagittarius on 7 January where she remains through 3 February. You'll become more of a free spirit when it comes to matters of the heart, and it'll be easy to embrace love as the greatest adventure of all.

This month isn’t going to be only about fun and games. Two weeks in, you’ll be asked to live up to what others expect from you and to put all your plans into motion. All the things you say will have an impact on your life and some will be more urgent than others.

Neptune and Venus will come together and their seductive power will ensure that you start searching for love even if you never intended to do so. A Venus and Jupiter embrace on 22 January is a day to circle because everyone will benefit in some way. Luck is on your side !

The Full Moon eclipse of January 20th is an extremely intense lunation. A Lunar Eclipse in Leo will help you connect to your heart and your deepest emotional needs when it comes to the love you give and the love you get. Are you being fed the way your heart craves ? We accept the love we think we deserve. What do you deserve ?

The goal through the last two weeks of January is to stay open to possibility.

MARS IN ARIES

1 January ~ 14 February

As the planet that governs Aries, the passion that Mars exudes will be unlike anything we’ve seen in a long time. With Mars in Aries, you will find yourself rising to challenges and feeling more motivated.

When Mars enters Aries, the sheer force of its energy makes us sit up and take notice of everything. We’ll find ourselves taking steps that we usually would not have the courage or the drive to take. We should find plenty of energy and courage for whatever new enterprises we want to embark upon.

This is a time when most people start discovering what they’re good at. With this newfound awareness buoying them, they will stop bowing down to authority and start taking interest in what they’re passionate about

The energy of Aries is stimulating in its vitality. We’ll feel ready to leave the past behind, so much so, that extending forgiveness seems like a small price to pay to move into the future

Knowing that this is a volatile period, you should be able to detach yourself when you are stuck in stressful circumstances. Remove yourself from your problems and look at them in the way that a third person would, so that you can make plans in an objective manner. A lot of unexpected twists and turns can assail you at this time, so, be ready to face them.

Take some time off to rest and rejuvenate yourself so that you have the energy to come up with unique solutions.

For Mars, entering Aries is like coming back home. He’ll urge us all to start working towards our most desired goals and he will guide us towards our own true selves. Don’t struggle against this energy. Use it, and you will find yourself becoming more confident and powerful

All you need to keep in mind is that you don’t have to turn your life upside down. When you begin to feel independent and strong, use those feelings and that energy to make yourself a better person.

JUPITER IN SAGITTARIUS

8 November 2018 ~ 3 December 2019

Jupiter, the planet of blessings and abundance, will enter her home sign of Sagittarius on 8 November for the first time in nearly 12 years. This is monumental in terms of you now having the support to achieve any and all of your pie-in-the-sky aspirations. There are no limits other than the ones you place upon yourself, and Jupiter in Sagittarius will help you erase those limitation lines like no other astrological event can. While Jupiter is in Sagittarius (8 November 2018 ~ 3 December 2019), our focus will be on self-improvement. You can be, do, and have anything you want. One of the keywords associated with Jupiter is luck, and when Jupiter transits one of your natal planets, good stuff can happen, and usually does; however, according to the mystical Kabbalah, luck is not given simply because of happenstance, luck happens because you are intuitive enough to notice opportunities and turn them into reality. In many ways, luck is our ability to leap from our secure porch of the now and have the certainty to leap into an unknown future.

URANUS IN TAURUS

15 May 2018 ~ 26 April 2026

A revolution is underway, a tearing down of old systems to allow for new and more resilient foundations to be built. We will likely see events that relate to our current experiences around 6 November 2018, and again around 6 March 2019, when Uranus again crosses the threshold between Taurus and Aries. Once every seven to eight years iconoclastic Uranus changes signs to revolutionise our lives. Uranus ingressing Taurus is all about disrupting the status quo and what has gotten stale, through new ideas, inventions and maybe even some revolutionary action. Since Taurus rules nature and is very security-minded and Uranus tends to cause instability, we would expect some natural events to manifest. We can also anticipate changes in financial matters and values in the years ahead. How we use money and what we find valuable will be revolutionised. During this transit, we must be ready and willing to change our relationship to money and materialism – we no longer have a choice. The changes we make during this period can actually help bring us to a point of greater stability, and can be very long-lasting.

CHIRON IN ARIES

18 April 2018 ~ 14 April 2027

Chiron’s sign changes often arrive with immediate shifts in the social climate and turning points in history. What may have seemed impossible in one moment of time is suddenly the thing that’s happening in another. Chiron was last in Aries from 1968-1977. Chiron moving into Aries is an eight-year phase of exposing and healing wounds related to that sign.

Chiron in Aries works in the areas of self-confidence and healthy assertiveness, helping us move beyond the need to become angry and aggressive to make ourselves seen. Chiron moving from Pisces to Aries is about taking responsibility for oneself. Chiron in Aries will expose the wounds to our personal identity. The image of Chiron entering Aries is that of many people waking up at the same time, though what they wake up to will differ ...

Ponder this ...

• Where am I feeling taken for granted or like a second class citzen that I need to liberate myself from ?
• What am I sacrificing and giving up in the name of acceptance and validation by one or more others (relationship, company, society) ?
• How have I let myself be seduced into what isn't right for me ?

I'm tired of being treated like a second-class citizen. ~ Rosa Parks

You’re being seduced … or perhaps you’ve already fallen prey to the seduction.

The question is whether what you’ve succumbed to is reflective of, and aligned with, your try, authentic self, needs, desires … or whether it was the flattery, attention, validation you needed that led you down a path or into a situation that no longer feels right.

Now is the time to be honest with yourself and determine where and what you don’t want to stay in any longer, and take the necessary steps and put the necessary actions into play that will move you out and forward rather than stuck in what isn’t right, be it a job, a relationship, an obligation, a city, a way of thinking.

You are more than just your usefulness to one or more others. You are not obligated to a company who only sees you as a replaceable cog in the ever turning wheel of human chattel to serve its bottom line. You do not need to suffer the humiliation and lack of support and respect from a relationship partner just because a little bit of manipulative flattery or validation makes you think you won’t find anyone else to love you.

It is time to see how we have acquiesced to the superficial rather than what is deep, real, meaningful for us. The ability to buy something the world says represents success by staying in a job where we are miserable or goes against the values we hold to be clear, true and self-evident is not worth it. A half-hearted apology accompanied by a shiny bauble or an empty promise does not make up for sacrificing our dignity in the face of abuse and disrespect just to be able to say we’re in a relationship. Doing what we think we’re supposed to do or obligated to is no longer justification for giving up on our own hopes and dreams.

Wherever we may feel that we are seen or treated as secondary, expendable, only as good as what we do, give or offer someone else’s demands, needs and desires, it is time for us to liberate ourselves from.

ASTROLOGY of the DAY

Friday • 25 JANUARY

The Moon travels through gentle Libra today and most of the energy is positive. It's a good day to get in touch with the people who can help you. That which doesn’t stop us makes us stronger. With Mars and Jupiter in a trine aspect -- and each in their own sign -- today should be good for any activity that helps you to grow.

Yesterday’s big ideas seem even better today. Heroic Mars forms a resonant trine with extravagant Jupiter, turning a trivial matter into a major melodrama. This powerful lineup sets the stage for successful meetings and agreements on Friday. Aries and Scorpio Sun and Rising have luck on their side right now. There's not a lot of restraint about this combination of energies, especially with both planets in signs that they rule, and in fire signs. If we are on track with the positive unfolding of our reality, we can use this energy to catapult ourselves a few light years ahead of our current location. We feel more energetic, confident, and motivated under this Transit. And this aspect boding well for success remains through the week-end, encouraging us to puruse our goals. It’s a good time to start new projects, a new workout routine, or some physical activity. This is also a good time to start or plan some sort of adventure. Pretty much any activity you choose to pursue will turn out successful. If you need to do something to advance your own cause, this aspect provides you with enormous foresight to achieve your goals. Take advantage of this energy while it’s available because it won’t happen again until late July.

The Moon’s smooth trines with mental Mercury and the wilful Sun can make us feel nearly invincible. A restrictive lunar square to stodgy Saturn at 8.10p tosses obstacles in our path, requiring us to readjust our priorities.

Ceres entering Sagittarius later today suggests that you may find having more freedom to explore and adventure makes you feel nurtured. You might also discover that sharing your adventure with others -- or offering them any knowledge or wisdom you've earned with experience -- feels like a worthwhile act of caring. Done with sensitivity, it is. Stay humble, and remember: we all need a cheerleader once in a while; someone to help us stay optimistic in the face of challenges.

ASTROLOGY of the WEEK

This is an eventful week. While the mood is generally competent and effective, midwinter blues, last week’s grim, power maneuvering sun-Pluto conjunction and this week’s deep-thinking Mercury-Pluto conjunction can leave some of us in a restless funk, reviewing our inadequacies and old ghosts or feeling stuck. But fate’s wheel is turning and a change is coming in the stars. It’s not like we are stepping into a bed of roses, this next month is a doozy (as Mars approaches a square to Pluto and a conjunction with Uranus) but we will see movement.

The Sun squares Uranus, the changemaker, which, along with Venus and Mars now in a fire sign, leaves us allergic to the dysfunctional situations, compelled to make a difference, and help us feel discontent but we can also reach into the restlessness for help moving out of any stuck place. Some people may feel compulsive need to talk about it, others will refuse to talk and won’t appreciate being poked. Let people begin the conversation on their own time, then sit back with a cup of tea because they may not stop. Negotiations may be at a temporary stalemate; a person shouldn’t bother coming back to the negotiating table unless they have something new. If an important decision needs to be made, don’t just give in, make sure that decision is ripe.

On Sunday the Sun enters Aquarius, the Moon enters Leo, and they oppose in a lunar eclipse at 9.15p at 0 degrees of fixed signs. Spookily called a super blood Moon because the Moon appears large at its closest point of orbit, and appears red as it passes through our earthly shadow, it’s just an intense lunar eclipse. Lunar eclipse can ripen and precipitate events, unstick what has been stuck, and illuminate some apparent dichotomy which needs balancing. Here we feel the debate between Aquarius and Leo, highlighting tension between our individual needs and those of a couple or the group. It calls on each of us to shine in own right, but not in a way that precludes the needs of the group, and to work with like minds for good progress, keep our egos out of the way, but let ourselves fully expressIf you have any planets triggered by this 0° of a fixed sign eclipse, look to the house and the planets involved for information about how to best direct this energy. For the rest of us, we may feel it vicariously, through the people in our surroundings. We can call it in to work for us though, notice what feels blocked in our life and see if we can apply this eclipse to get the flow going. This one’s in Leo, so don’t underestimate the drama around it, but we may see more smoke and mirrors and melodrama than ever.

Mars squares Saturn at the same time intensifying tension between generations, and even between our mature and our youthful personas.

Underneath this is a river of interpersonal warmth. It’s a great week to renew the sparks with one another and remember our passion for our work or our politics. Romantic, creative Venus conjuncts expansive Jupiter in Sagittarius, they both square confusing Neptune and trine Mars in Aries, all in fire signs. This pool of emotional fuel lies underneath all we do, and can spark great passion in all directions, ignite the best and worst of sparks. We could fall in love with a new puppy or someone with a foreign accent, or the way the snow falls over pine trees. It’s not a good week to ignore beloveds, so make the time and feed the best sparks in life.

Midweek our nerves wind up, we can feel an ambient tension and a shift in the wind.

JANUARY 2019

Wow Days
1, 4, 15, 16, 22+, 25, 31+
Whoa Days
13+, 20, 21, 27

We begin the year with Jupiter, Saturn, Mars and Neptune all in their home signs which lets their power shine through in a big way. We are very likely to see both sides of these planets in January as we have a complicated and busy sky that also includes two eclipses and two major aspects showing up.

Lucky and expansive Jupiter is in Sagittarius encouraging some kind of expansion and growth in your life depending on which house in your chart this most helpful planet transits. Jupiter can also feed dogmatic thinking and greed in some people.

Conservative and practical Saturn is in Capricorn increasing the demands on your life to stay committed and responsible even in the face of tests and challenges which are likely to show up in the months ahead. Saturn may awaken a cold, selfish attitude in some.

Spiritual and creative Neptune is traveling through home sign Pisces now and for the next five years. Neptune fogs up our thinking at times and leads some to deceit and perfidy, along with alcohol and drug problems.

January of 2019 starts off with an explosion of energy. Mars in Aries has us all running towards something and though we may not know where we’re going, the energy coursing through us is enough to keep us going. This feeling will only grow stronger as the month progresses. No matter how many wrenches are thrown into the works, no matter how many times we’re faced with life-changing plot twists, no matter how many signs we encounter telling us to pause and think, it will be hard to shake off this energy. This paradox will set the theme for all of 2019. All the motivation this energy provides will encourage you to make a lot of plans for the year but rest assured, that even if you strongly believe in them, they’ll change soon enough. But before you get scared, know that the cosmos is preparing itself to calm the waters. The Sun’s interaction with mature and practical Saturn will pull us back into adulthood. With Mercury getting closer to Capricorn, solid plans which will endure the test of time begin to emerge. In addition to all these movements, we also have much to look forward to when Uranus, with its incredible transformational powers, crosses our paths. The way ahead will seem much clearer and all plans will be set aside as we learn more about ourselves and the direction in which we are headed. But even with all these epiphanies and realisations, we will mostly not isolate ourselves to reflect on all that is happening around us.

January features two powerful eclipses, representing in many ways a continuation and an intensification of the transformational thrust of the past few weeks and months of the old dying year.

A Solar Eclipse on 5 January is powerful, with the  Sun and Moon in strong sextile to Neptune, supported by Jupiter’s square to this numinous and otherworldly energy, and also features a very strong presence of Uranus. This Solar Eclipse in Capricorn will connect closely to Saturn, also in Capricorn. This is a major new beginning in your life that will have substance and long-term potential. You might be ready to build a strong foundation in an area of your life now. If that's the case, it needs to be done in a responsible, methodical way. This eclipse urges you to focus on what you would like to build in your life and what you need to eliminate. Choose carefully !

On 6 January Uranus turns direct in late-degree Aries, shaking up life in a way that can either be rattling or electrifying – most likely both. An unexpected turn of events is likely, and it will be something that honours your need for individuality and self-expression.

Love planet Venus moves into Sagittarius on 7 January where she remains through 3 February. You'll become more of a free spirit when it comes to matters of the heart, and it'll be easy to embrace love as the greatest adventure of all. By the end of the first week of January, Sagittarius and Venus will come together to inspire in us the spirit of adventure, humour, and happiness. At the same time, Venus and Mars will come into contact, lending new fire to our relationships and excitement in our lives.

This month isn’t going to be only about fun and games. Two weeks in, you’ll be asked to live up to what others expect from you and to put all your plans into motion. All the things you say will have an impact on your life and some will be more urgent than others. When Mercury and Saturn unite, the reality of your burdens will set in and you will struggle with the load even as Jupiter and Neptune urge you to get lost in your dreams. Steel yourself up and take this opportunity to look for answers within yourself. What you find may take you by surprise ! The liberation that Uranus brings will shock you into letting down your walls and finding freedom. The slow transformation that you’ve been undergoing since Uranus’ entry into Aries eight years ago will finally come to an end.

Towards the end of the month, Neptune and Venus will come together and their seductive power will ensure that you start searching for love even if you never intended to do so. Something almost magical will happen to gently push you towards those emotions. A gorgeous and very auspicious day will arrive on 22 January when Venus and Jupiter embrace perfectly. This is a day to circle on your calendar because everyone will benefit in some way. Luck is on your side !

The Full Moon eclipse of January 20th is an extremely intense lunation. This takes place at the 0-degree mark of Leo and Aquarius, and is therefore in some ways a harbinger of the Jupiter-Saturn conjunction at 0 Aquarius taking place on December 21st of 2020. We are being asked to take seriously our individual contribution to the social matrix that surrounds us, and to expand our viewpoint to include the previously unimaginable. The  Sun and Moon make a T-square to Uranus, emphasising surprises, unexpected breakthrough, and significant enlightenment.

A Lunar Eclipse in Leo will help you connect to your heart and your deepest emotional needs when it comes to the love you give and the love you get. Are you being fed the way your heart craves ? While this is likely to be a time of fulfillment, if there is an unmet emotional need in your life, then this might be a time you recognise it's time to let go. We accept the love we think we deserve. What do you deserve ? This eclipse will help you understand exactly what you want to say while also bringing with it a time of endings and goodbyes which will cause upheavals in most of your important relationships.

The goal through the last two weeks of January is thus to stay open to possibility. Numinous Neptune is again strongly aspected, and Pluto as well, by declinational connection, bringing his energy of going through personal transformation to the fore. Pluto is parallel to Saturn, Jupiter, and  Mercury in this Lunar Eclipse configuration.

This will be the most significant eclipse of the year in North America, as it is a total eclipse and it's the only one fully visible on this continent. In close proximity to the full Moon will be North node Rahu. The Sun and South node Ketu will be opposite the Moon. During the lunar eclipse, your perception and insights may be occluded as the Moon will be veiled by the shadow of the nodes. Therefore, it's not the time to rely on your instincts.  More questions about moral and ethics will arise about events which were previously known as well as those which have been veiled. The first reaction will be to sweep actions under the rug. However, making excuses and speaking untruths will no longer suffice. More people will be taken to task for their actions as the year progresses.

JUPITER IN SAGITTARIUS

8 November 2018 ~ 3 December 2019

Creating a life that is better than the one you have now

It’ll feel like a changing of the guard as Jupiter changes signs on 8 November. While Jupiter is in Sagittarius (8 November 2018 ~ 3 December 2019), our focus will be on self-improvement. You can be, do, and have anything you wantJupiter, the planet of blessings and abundance, will enter her home sign of Sagittarius on 8 November for the first time in nearly 12 years. This is monumental in terms of you now having the support to achieve any and all of your pie-in-the-sky aspirations. There are no limits other than the ones you place upon yourself, and Jupiter in Sagittarius will help you erase those limitation lines like no other astrological event can. He promotes expansion, education, legal solutions, travel, interaction with foreigners, sales and in some folks, bullshit. But the fire energy is uplifting and usually triggers an optimistic spirit on the street. Jupiter is the gambler in his home sign — he deals you aces in the house he travels through in your birth chart.

Sagittarius is a fiery sign that reflects future potentials and possibilities and is a sign closely linked to religious and philosophical thought. In many ways, Jupiter in Sagittarius is a double dose of Jupiter, because Jupiter rules the sign of the archer, and the need to find a higher or spiritual meaning to the vicissitudes of life is doubly potent. Additionally, we may see laws (Sagittarius rules legal matters) created based on the movements created during Jupiter in Scorpio including legislation related to sexual abuse, workplace harassment, sexuality, and perhaps, racial issues.

Jupiter in Sagittarius will lead many on a spiritual or philosophical journey to make sense of the difficulties and struggles you have experienced. Sometimes, if you can find a purpose for your suffering, your difficulties are easier to swallow, and recovery becomes possible. You may find interest in different forms of metaphysical modalities, especially ones related to the mind and mental programming. This will be a great time for intention-based work, as well as the use of affirmations or other self-affirming practices. Also, since Sagittarius rules higher education, this would be an amazing time to return to school or consider some form of a vocational program.

URANUS IN TAURUS

15 May 2018 ~ 26 April 2026

A revolution is underway, a tearing down of old systems to allow for new and more resilient foundations to be built. Uranus will be mostly in Taurus for the next seven to eight years, but its retrograde phase will take it back into Aries for a few months starting in November. We will likely see events that relate to our current experiences around 6 November 2018, and again around 6 March 2019, when Uranus again crosses the threshold between Taurus and Aries.

Once every seven to eight years iconoclastic Uranus changes signs to revolutionise our lives. The foundations are cracking under the tension as electric Uranus shifts into Taurus. Uranus values the element of surprise and refuses to be predicted. Instead of feeling overly nervous about what lies ahead, we need to keep in mind that the changes Uranus brings are in some way vital to our progress. They shake us up, propel us out of complacency, and shift mass consciousness as a way of accelerating our evolution. Uranus ingressing Taurus is all about disrupting the status quo and what has gotten stale, through new ideas, inventions and maybe even some revolutionary action. Although Uranus is considered a cultural or generational indicator, you can still watch for how it's showing up in your personal life and channel its energy as constructively as possible. Taurus tends to get attached, resist change, and try to stay comfy. So how can you integrate these two energies? Perhaps remind yourself that the only constant is change. Going with the flow can help; seeing your opportunities to do something differently and going for it – at a gentle pace – could be even more effective.

When an outer planet changes signs, it usually corresponds with important events in the world. Uranus, in particular, has the reputation for shaking up the status quo when it changes signs. Uranus, which takes 84 years to go around the zodiac. Last time Uranus was in Taurus 1934-1941, the New Deal turned the American economy and culture around, and the power structures of Europe changed. Over the next eight years we will be pushed to evolve our relationship to the world of matter : our bodies, our money, our resources, and our relationship to the earth. Because Uranus is an outer planet, the effects of its transit through Taurus will largely be seen on a global level -- but you'll certainly feel them personally, too. Even if we are resistant to the changes Uranus in Taurus brings, we have no choice but to go along for the ride, and, chances are, we'll realise in the end that these changes brought us to a much better place.

Since Taurus rules nature and is very security-minded and Uranus tends to cause instability, we would expect some natural events to manifest. We can also anticipate changes in financial matters and values in the years ahead. How we use money and what we find valuable will be revolutionised -- perhaps foreshadowed by the advent of bitcoins and the expansion of other electronic forms of money. Money is Taurus' main area of expertise, so while Uranus is in Taurus, we can expect some very revolutionary ways of handling and dealing with money, both nationwide and worldwide. During the seven years Uranus will spend in Taurus, brand-new forms of currency may arise, banks and banking could come to a halt or change dramatically, and the housing and stock markets may be in for a major shake-up.

On a more personal level, Uranus in Taurus encourages us to break free from the grips of money : debt, taxes, credit card interest, rent, and mortgages are all things that can prevent us from saving money or using it the way we want to. We may also feel trapped by our material possessions in general. During this transit, we must be ready and willing to change our relationship to money and materialism – we no longer have a choice. Uranus is here to liberate us, and digging in our heels and resisting won't make things any easier ... and won't stop these changes from happening.

Chiron began the  journey it’s just completed through Pisces in April 2010, a period that could be described by Prof. Eric McLuhan : The body is everywhere assaulted by all of our new media, a state which has resulted in deep disorientation of intellect and destabilization of culture throughout the world. In the age of disembodied communication, the meaning and significance and experience of the body is utterly transformed and distorted.

Chiron moving into Aries is an eight-year phase of exposing and healing wounds related to that sign.

In this new chapter of our global rehabilitation, the intended result is the healing of masculine energy, which in its wounded forms manifests as bullying, combativeness, and violence. On individual levels, Chiron in Aries works in the areas of self-confidence and healthy assertiveness, helping us move beyond the need to become angry and aggressive to make ourselves seen. Chiron moving from Pisces to Aries is about taking responsibility for oneself. Chiron in Aries will expose the wounds to our personal identity. How well can we defend ourselves and our rights ? Are we able to express our needs with confidence that they will be met ? Do our own needs blind us to the needs and rights of others, making relationships difficult or impossible ? Can we manifest what we desire and feel confident in our own life adventure ? These are all questions that will be a focus while Chiron is in Aries.

The image of Chiron entering Aries is that of many people waking up at the same time, though what they wake up to will differ. One possibility is anger. There is no estimating the amount and depth of suppressed rage that is brewing underground in the collective psyche. This rage is bending and twisting all of emotion, resulting in some strange and unpredictable effects in society. It is important to remember that Chiron’s astrological role is to promote the integration of the body, mind, spirit system and to achieve balance in the body’s energetic framework. We can prepare for any Chiron event by doing a self-assessment to see how well our life patterns are supporting our health and ability to heal.

The effect Chiron will have in our individual lives will vary according to our individual birthchart. Those of us around age 50-52 who have Chiron in Aries natally will experience their Chiron return at some point in their lives, a time of reckoning when we experience some sort of healing crisis. This can be a clearing of emotional debris which manifests as a deeply emotional time, or it can be marked with a health crisis that necessitates a change in the manner in which we live our lives. Or it can be a positive time of self care and healthy living to prepare us for the next phase of our lives as we move towards the Saturn return. If we have planets in the cardinal signs (Aries, Libra, Cancer and Capricorn) we will experience a transit of Chiron to those points at some time in the next eight years.  Depending on the planet affected, we may find ourselves feeling triggered emotionally, or perhaps a loss of energy.

The time has come to return to speaking in « I-statements, » taking responsibility and ownership of our own experiences, and making a point to distinguish ourself from group identity. This may thrust many people into a kind of identity crisis, since so much of our identity is currently tribal, but struggling to be something else. Among the first-tier properties of Chiron is standing out, distinguishing oneself, and being different — pretty much no matter what the cost. When Chiron is present, it’s time to be a maverick. It’s pretty easy to hide by trying to blend in, though this comes at the expense of learning how to be yourself. Not being yourself means being someone else, which is not possible — so the crisis is something of an encounter with the reality gap.

2019 is going to sail us into completely foreign waters. Our world has well and truly changed – not changing. The shaking is set to continue, and (believe it or not) it is in our own best interests. 2019 will packed with frenetic episodes, energetic jolts of enlightenment, replete with the usual hard knocks and tough-love lessons for you romantics. It is not enough to simply hide out and 'meditate' your way into a better world. Sure mindful practices will help, but in the coming months we will be pressed to take some action. 2019 (and 2020) will be years in which our actions speak volumes. This includes our inaction which itself will produce effects like never before. Society itself is going through its own massive changes right now, the birth pangs of a more inclusive and equal-opportunity society that is still to come, and this is reflected in the strong Saturn-Pluto parallel which gets even closer over the next few months, peaking in March, and then again in August. Pluto with Saturn implies a draconian approach to social ills, and a re-forming of the society itself, and of the patterns of our individual lives. Earth oriented Haumea, operating in connection with trickster Uranus during the first half of the year pushes forward the theme of climate change. Other societal themes are likely to involve the illusions and idealisations of Neptune, quite prominent in these January skies, and beyond.

The overarching theme in 2019 has a lot to do with learning to create balance between having blind faith and grounding all of this remarkable idealism you find yourself swimming in. We move into the new year feeling as if the sky truly is the limit. There is, however, a subtle difference between living in la-la land and manifesting the destiny you know is within your grasp. In 2019 you get to master this fascinating lesson. In 2019 you can accomplish more than your wildest dreams envision as long as you keep your feet firmly planted on the ground as you reach for the stars. Remember, an arrow can only be shot by pulling it backward. If life drags you down with difficulties, it means it's going to launch you into something great. So just focus and keep aiming. That is the beauty of Jupiter in Sagittarius aligned with Neptune and Saturn linked to Neptune this year : practical magic. Use it well.

The Uranus/Neptune semisquares (2017-2020) lead us all deeper into the rabbit-hole of altered perceptions and soul-shock. We will be better served by serving our own inner light. Sooner or later we might have to take matters into our hands. Nobody is there to help if we don't show that we are keen to act for ourselves. In this sense, acting sooner, with a sense of urgency is absolutely imperative.

2019 starts out with Uranus finishing up his trek through Aries for good. Until 6 March he'll travel through the last degree of this sign, reminding us how to use our sense of independent, pioneering spirit in a way that is liberating without being reckless. Once Uranus enters Taurus on 6 March, he'll remain here through April 2026. The foundation of your life is bound to crack in some way in order to alert you to the fact that it's no longer serving as a solid base, but rather a suffocating boundary. Don't be afraid to reinvent yourself in terms of your values and your place in the material world. It's time.

Start the new year with a strong emotional foothold. In January, there are two eclipses. Often, the way that we commence a year sets a precedence for how the rest of the year will go.  Engage in actions during the eclipses so that you can harmonise with the planetary energies and uplift yourself. Be clear on what you wish to contribute to the world, activities in which you will partake, what you will forgo this year, and how you will design your life. Eclipses allow a deep time for spiritual reflection and introspection. Eclipses across the Cancer/Capricorn axis throughout 2019 amplify themes of family and security versus your reputation and place in the world. Many will begin new career paths at the Solar Eclipse in Capricorn on 5 January which aligns perfectly to Saturn in Capricorn. This eclipse means business and offers you the potential to move mountains. This solar eclipse will be a positive alignment with the balanced star Vega in the Lyra constellation and has a creative influence. The January solar eclipse conjunct with Saturn brings up a serious mood but the light energy of Neptune acts as a relaxant. It’s a great time to start a new business or for embarking on a creative journeya bit of kindness and charity will go a long way during this time.

A Lunar eclipse takes place in Leo on 21 January. It’s a passionate time and it will be affected by rebellious Uranus. Some unexpected news might create sudden consternation in you. It will be an anxious period and you will be uncertain about what the future might bring. On top of that, the lunar eclipse arrives at a place where there are only dim stars making no place for light. However, the Sun comes to the rescue aligned with brighter stars giving more courage during this tough time. Adaptability, patience and an open mind will help a lot during this period and will help us when new opportunities come our way.

Jupiter, the planet of exuberance and faith, moved into his home sign of Sagittarius back on 8 November 2018, and will remain here through 2 December 2019. This presents an incredible opportunity to believe in the possibilities of life in a way that you might not have in quite some time. While Jupiter was touring Scorpio, there was an intensity to your pursuit of happiness that sometimes felt heavy. Now that Jupiter is in Sagittarius, you look and feel lighter. In fact, you might notice that you're all smiles as the year begins.

Jupiter will square Neptune on 13 January, 16 June, and 21 September. Neptune might lead you to be hopelessly unrealistic about a situation and that may, ultimately, lead to disappointment. When others can't fulfill your pedestal version of them and they remind you that they are only human after all, it can be quite disenchanting. The same might happen if you're working on a project that you have high hopes for. If you're only working on faith and forget the brass tacks, the happy ending you're hoping for might never materialise. The days around this square are not the best time, but it will test your strength in the face of disappointment. You might be too optimistic during this time – more idealistic than in the real world. You might trust your romantic partner more than they deserve – you might even take risks based on your rose-tinted view of the world and fall flat. Your resources will no longer seem as safe and sound as you thought they were – so you have to take extra caution during this period.

Fortunately, the universe will provide a simultaneous opportunity for you to ground all of this idealism into something real – as long as you remember to keep your eyes open. Neptune will make a supportive sextile to stabilising Saturn on 31 January, 18 June, and again on 8 November. This impossible dream you have doesn't have to be unattainable. All you need to do is combine your vision with a solid plan. Let Saturn help you focus your blurry lens of naïveté that Neptune brings. Saturn sextile Neptune promises to bring material gains from your spiritual journey. You will now be more capable of pursuing your dreams. There will be limitations but the planet will feed you the right amount of optimistic energy needed to push you onwards and approach your dream in a realistic manner. Plus, you will be able to fit in your spiritual needs within this bigger picture of life. You might have to make sacrifices but that will be for your greater good. You will be more capable to help people follow their dream, too, with your spiritual support backing them up.

Seek wise counsel. For most of 2019, Jupiter will be in Scorpio in the nakshatra of Jyestha. Jupiter is archetypically a teacher or an advisor whom one looks to for proper guidance. Jupiter is called Guru in Sanskrit – the term for a spiritual teacher. Depending on what astrological house Jupiter will be transiting in your chart, this counsel may take the form of a spiritual teacher, a mentor, an attorney, an astrologer, an accountant, a doctor, a therapist, etc. For success in 2019 you can benefit from such advisors and stay on the path of dharma.

A quite interesting configuration is re-emerging in this January context, and growing stronger over the first few months of 2019. That is the partile or same-degree opposition of the  Eris/Uranus midpoint to Haumea, earth goddess energy of Profound Connection to Nature, and to natural law. Haumea is located at 26 plus degrees of Libra, opposite the midpoint in Aries, having reached it late last year, and is stationing retrograde there on 24 January. This brings renewed attention to earth changes, and to global warming as one super important issue. This is in fact likely to become the biggest agenda of the next decade. Perhaps it really is true, as a philosophical sage once remarked, that the best concept of freedom is to understand the direction that history is moving, and head that way.

Refine your skills in 2019 as Saturn will transit the nakshatra of Purva Ashadha in Sagittarius. This constellation believes in making oneself a better vessel. It allows us to improve our life circumstances by fine tuning our skills – whatever they may be. By adding to your repertoire,  you can extend a wider array of offerings to the world. 2019 is the year can contemplate how you can « build a better mousetrap ». This involves thinking more acutely and performing at your best. The motivation here is to be successful in all your endeavours. Practice patience. While you are polishing your skills, you must have composure. It’s time to put the drama aside and to have forbearance.  Don’t get distracted from your pursuits. When the going gets tough, be proactive and use the resources you have at hand. This is not the year to share all your complaints on social media.  However, 2019 is the year to be rewarded for your efforts if you give them proper time and attention.

Indulge in creative endeavours. Fun loving Rahu moves into Gemini in March. Gemini indicates the use of one’s arms, creativity, and the arts. Rahu hates routines more than anything else ! It wants to participate in new and exciting endeavours regularly. For example, take an art class, play an instrument, do creative writing, dance, or whatever will get your artistic juices flowing. Perhaps do something related to a foreign culture, to further satisfy Rahu’s cravings.

Take a trip abroad. With Ketu joining Saturn (through Sept 2020) in Sagittarius – the astrological house of foreign travel – you’ll want to heed the callings of your wanderlust. In addition, Saturn represents foreigners. Therefore, it’s the ideal time to learn about a new culture. You may benefit from a spiritual pilgrimage. This planetary pairing can take your meditation practices to greater depths.  On the other hand, if you are in the mood for something lighter, take a trip for leisure. See what you appreciate about the lifestyle and values of another culture and how you can incorporate these aspects to help you live a more aligned life.

A Solar Eclipse on 2 July in Cancer will oppose Saturn, asking you to let go of what you thought made you secure in order to become the master builder of your life. These themes continue through to the 16 July Lunar Eclipse in Capricorn (and into the eclipses at the end of the year). Uranus and a star present in Gemini Constellation will bring a lot of positive vibes and cement your friendships and relationships with sprinklings of good times. It’s a time when people will come together for peaceful negotiations. If you are open-minded and work hard, you can even accomplish what you dreamed of.

The Lunar Eclipse that will happen in Capricorn 16 July is a powerful one, happening in conjunct with intense Pluto. It will likely make you a bit emotional and there might be some crisis regarding power struggles. Eris, the dwarf planet that this eclipse will square, will strengthen the feminist attacks to destroy patriarchy. While there might be scandals and destruction of reputations, there will also be sympathy and understanding during this time.

The ending of the year will be great. Jupiter will trine Uranus on 15 December and bring exciting encounters into your life. Jupiter is expansive so you might want to go out of your comfort zone and start exploring the world more. You will feel the freedom to take more risks, expand your point of view and pick up new opportunities as they come in your way. You have to push boundaries and live in an expansive manner. There might be unexpected opportunities that come your way, and all of it can get you to a positive change that you need in the year.

A Solar Eclipse on 26 December in Capricorn conjunct Jupiter in Capricorn and trine Uranus in Taurus will be magical. Expect a sudden, material windfall to occur if you've done the work of securing your place in the world.

This next year is of course the prelude to 2020, and the Eris - Pluto square, already quite close, will then become still more prominent. We might expect both a radical empowerment of the extremely potent transformational energies represented by Uranus-Pluto, in square until 2020, and the rise of individualists following their own inner compass to the exclusion of all else, in a dedicated fight for what they most deeply espouse. This maverick energy fights for what it believes, possibly supporting odd-ball causes until it finds its actual centre. The rise of feminism, and of #MeToo/Time’s Up, and of women in politics are examples of the recent prominence of this Feminine Warrior rebellious energy emerging into the zeitgeist.
