Atlanta Roller Derby returns on Saturday February 16!

Whether your heart is whole or halved this Valentine’s Day, you can be sure that Atlanta Roller Derby will get it pumping. Our love may be eternal, but this season we’ll be spicing things up with a new name, fresh faces, and an exciting shuffle of who’s-with-who. The new name is Atlanta Roller Derby, because these hard hitters aren’t kids anymore. The fresh faces are our talented transfers. Keep an eye out for Dirty Fri Rice, Captain Smack Sparrow, Camilla LeBloxx, and Rumbalina. And the shuffle? Our skaters have been redistributed among the home teams you love, so let’s see which new alliances make sparks fly.

Glamma Rays vs. Toxic Shocks
You can start your evening with a delicious serving of drama when the Glamma Rays take on the Toxic Shocks.
Bout 2 @ 7:30 PM:
Demons vs Apocalypstix
For dessert, eat your heart out as the Apocalypstix play the Demons.
Cleanse your palate as you take in our halftime band Groove Moose out in the courtyard.

There’ll also be literal food from our courtyard vendors and visiting food trucks. This month’s food truck guests are Triple Jay’s Pizza and the Little Yellow Food Wagon. Fill your stomach with snacks, your ears with live tunes, and your cold, brittle hearts with the warm balm of roller derby.

Are you cruising through life without much change? Then maybe it’s time to get into Atlanta’s #1 Rec(reational sports league)! Atlanta Roller Derby Rec League is a great place to get some exercise, join a cool community, and learn to look cozy on eight wheels. We’re a positive, low pressure environment where no experience is necessary. We’ll teach you to strap on your skates and, who knows? Maybe some day soon you’ll be skating around Shriner’s like a pro.

Volunteers
We are a 100% volunteer-run organization, from skaters to officials to organizers behind the scenes. Want to dabble in the magic? We’re looking for derby faithful to help out as volunteers for our February game! Game day volunteers help with set-up, tear-down, security, ticketing, stats, and more! We will train you for whatever position you take on, you’ll have the adoration of sixty-some of the raddest rollergirls in the world, AND if you volunteer for one bout, you can watch the other one free of charge! We wouldn’t be where we are now without the dedicated support of our volunteers. We love to skate, and we love you for helping us do what we love. Name Change
We’ve voted to change our league name to Atlanta Roller Derby. Why? The adult skaters of ARD have chosen to begin the 2019 season by emphasizing their strength, experience, and power. Further, Atlanta Roller Derby more accurately represents the league’s deep commitment to a gender inclusive policy. Forget the binary! All women, femmes, and gender-expansive people are welcome to skate with Atlanta Roller Derby. ARD is not becoming a co-ed league. Instead of co-ed, ARD is what it always has been, a heart-thumping contact sport where women and gender expansive people show off their speed, skill, and sass on the track.
