Mike Groshong Update... by: John Machi
I have been talking with Jo Groshong and it is her wish to have a Memorial for Mike Groshong to be held on Sunday, March 10, 2019 (which is Mike's Birthday) at 1 p.m. at the Florence Elks Lodge. It is also her wish that the Rhody Cruisers and any other car clubs who knew and worked with Mike arrive at the Memorial with their cars. The Elks Lodge said they will set aside parking areas for the car clubs. More details are being worked out and we will advise you of them as they develop. We have lost a true friend!
Wings and Wheels Update... By: Ross Kronert
A week before his passing, Mike called me asked if I would take on the show as a legacy for him, which I gladly agreed to do. At this time, I can say there will be a 10th Annual ”Mike Groshong Memorial Wings and Wheels” Sat. July 6, 2019. I am working with the Lions Club, our planning committee and the family looking through and searching out notes Mike had about the show. I have also contacted the suppliers already to let them know we are a little behind, but do plan to continue the event.
-- I would also like to take a minute at the A&W next week to just bring anyone at the meeting up to date and try to answer questions, if possible.

Mike Groshong
It is my sad duty to report the passing of one of the Car Communitie's SuperStars. Our good friend Mike Groshong passed away at Riverbend Hospital on Saturday, 1/19/2019. Mike could be seen announcing Winners and Parades, promoting events and selling Burgers for the Lions Club. Mike was the Producer of the Wings & Wheels Car Show, and was an unforgettable Rhody Cruiser.

  Mike Branson Passed in December.
I will always remember Mike for his chopped "La Bomba" LedSled and terrible straw hat. You will remember, he traded La Bomba for the Hillary Van and a very nice Pickup.

I have been in contact with Hank Leach, VP Oregon Coast British Car Club. He suggested that Rhody Cruisers and Oregon Coast British Car Club could have a joint memorial for Mike Groshong, Mike Branson, and Mert Beebe.
Any Thoughts or suggestions?

(Update) Mert Beebe: On February 9th our dear friend Mert Beebe would have turned 84. I also have to report that his wife, Chris passed this week also. Obviously there will be no celebration of life for Mert, as previously planned for February. I will hopefully have further details, but for now we morn her passing. -- Hank Leach, VP Oregon Coast British Car Club.
In addition to his stunning 55 Chevy, Mert also owned this beautiful MG B with a Chevy V6.

Activities Committee...
 I'm still thinking that the Rhody Cruisers club could use a management upgrade, and give members the opportunity get your hands dirty.
Back in the day, we had an activities committee. (old story here).
I propose we restore that program, or some variation, once again. Sometime soon, we should setup a committee meeting. Someplace quiet. We need to consider: • Membership • Events • Social Issues • Car Show Calendar • Anyone with an interest is encouraged to attend. Your opinions and suggestions are important. Lets setup a time and place.

The Rhody Cruisers had a busy 2018.
We attended dozens of Car Shows, bringing Glory and Booty to our humble group. We quickly organized a Stand-Around Show for visiting guests in June. We helped with Wings & Wheels, and made a major contribution to Rods 'N Rhodies. We participated in the Rhody Days Parade, and paraded to honor our Veterans last month. Together we brought in donations of Christmas Joy for those in need. We paid our respect to those folks being cared for at Spruce Point and Shorewood Living. I am very proud of our little club, and look forward to another year of community support, good times, and good friends. One of the best things we do is to meet monthly, and toss around ideas about upcoming events. Our around-the-room discussions are fabulous. Many thanks for that go to ...Ann, and the great staff at the A&W.
