They will regale us with their images, stories, and videos about the natural and human history of these spectacular wetlands which are home to the “giants” of South America: the giant anteater, giant otter, rhino-like tapirs, colorful macaws—the largest parrots in the world, endearing capybaras—Earth’s largest rodent, and of course, the jaguar—largest cat in the Americas. NOAA/Sea Grant Population and Ecosystem Dynamics Fellowship
Application Deadline: January 30, 2019

The Fellowship Program expects to award at least three new Ph.D. Fellowships in 2019 to students who are interested in careers related to marine ecosystem and population dynamics, with a focus on modeling and managing systems of living marine resources. More info here.

NOAA/Sea Grant Marine Resource Economics Fellowship
Application Deadline: January 30, 2019

The Fellowship Program expects to award one new Ph.D. Fellowship each year to students who are interested in careers related to the development and implementation of quantitative methods for assessing the economics of the conservation and management of living marine resources. More info here.


COAST Graduate Student Research Awards and Travel Awards
Application Deadline: January 31, 2019 (Research Award Only)

COAST provides support to CSU graduate students engaged in marine, estuarine, coastal and coastal watershed research with CSU COAST faculty members.Travel awards have a rolling due date depending on destination, but can be submitted for travel between Jan 1-June 30, 2019. More info here.

Panntta Congressional Internship
Application Deadline: February 11, 2019

We have been asked to choose one outstanding undergraduate (junior or senior) student to participate in this extraordinary learning experience. The thirteen-week program runs from the beginning of August through early November. The Congressional Internship begins with a two-week training session at the Panetta Institute followed by eleven weeks in Washington, D.C. More info here.

Monterey Bay Ocean Science REU at CSU Monterey Bay
Application Deadline: February 11, 2019

Undergraduate students will collaborate with mentors at host institutions (CSU Monterey Bay, Elkhorn Slough National Estuarine Research Reserve, Hopkins Marine Station of Stanford University, Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute, Moss Landing Marine Laboratories and Naval Postgraduate School) to conduct 10 weeks of independent research. In addition, students complete a suite of professional development workshops and training. A $5,000 stipend, travel, and housing support are provided by the program. More info here.

CSU COAST Summer 2019 Student Internships
Application Deadline: March 4, 2019

CSU COAST will have 16 PAID internship positions in Summer 2019 that cover a broad range of interests including fisheries management, species conservation and protection, ocean data analysis and synthesis, and marine engineering. Internship hosts are state and federal agencies, non-profit organizations and private industry-this is a great way for students to see what it's like to work in these different environments and refine their educational and career goals. SNARL or Valentine Camp Student Grants
Application Deadline: March 15, 2019

Want to do your research at SNARL or Valentine Camp in Mammoth Lakes? 
SNARL and Valentine Camp are part of the UC Natural reserve system. Graduate students planning field research in or around Mammoth Lakes, CA can apply for funding from the NRS's Valentine Eastern Sierra Reserve. The reserve's Graduate Student Grant program offers up to $1,500 in funding for grad students doing work at Valentine Camp Reserve and Sierra Nevada Aquatic Research Laboratory (SNARL), or who plan to use the reserves as their home base.
