This week's duty XI: 3rd XI

Vazquez Vanquishes Broom

Adrian Vazques-Camacho steered the 5s into the League Cup semi-finals with a fabulous brace at Broomfield on Saturday. His first effort came after a quarter or an hour when he slotted home after a bit of goal-mouth ping-pong, and he doubled the lead after 35 minutes following a smart 1-2 on the edge of the box, smashing home to make it 2-0. The 5s travel to Old Salesians for the semi-final on 9 February. Get your travel cards out boys!

Back at the Vamps, the 4s gained revenge on Norsemen for their defeat earlier in the season with goals from Charlie Ephgrave (2) and Rob Handleigh giving them a 3-1 victory that puts them 3rd in the league ahead of this weekend's visit of new boys Kings Park Rangers, who are 4th.

On the adjacent pitch the 6s came back from a goal behind to take the points against Alexandra Park 9s, with two Nick Dunlop goals and an ownie giving them a 3-2 win. The return leg is this coming week, when the two sides meet again at the Racecourse Ground. The following the 6s visit AP one more to play their 10s. I hope you like orange, boys!
Presentation Night

The annual presentation night will take place on Saturday 1 June this year. Our friends from KFC Rood-Wit in Antwerp will be visiting and we hope to show them a right good time as they celebrate their 70th anniversary. The Memorial 5-a-side will take place during the day, with the Presentation Night taking place in the evening at the Royal British Legion in Muswell Hill.

Further details will be released as they are confirmed but save the date, especially if you are expecting to win one of our club awards!
Vets Wanted!

The Vets are on the lookout for players to bolster their squad in the SAL Vets League Most games are played on Sunday mornings with some on Saturdays from time to time.

Players must be 35 or over but are allowed to play Saturdays and Sundays, even if they play for another club on Saturday.

Match Report from James Brown
Finally it was the day we’ve all been waiting for, the Quarter final with a place in the Semi’s at stake.

After a good win at AP last week we felt confident going into the game and as kick off approached us we spurred each other on to work for each other and let football do the talking.

We looked really sharp in everything we were doing, keeping the ball on the ground popping the ball about and we started with a few good chances when Luke Unwin was one on one with the goalie who managed to keep him out from making it 0-1 to the Vamps.

We didn’t give up as we knew we wanted the game more so we kept pushing and pushing and the football was flowing in our favour as George Vivian was let loose on the wing as he gave the opponents a hard time as he managed to unselfishly played a ball through to Adrian Vazquez-Camacho in the box who slotted the ball into the bottom corner, great finish, great goal 0-1!

We wanted to keep up the pressure and the fantastic football as luke green picked up the ball in central midfield and picked out Vivian once again who lately is in great form by once again playing yet another slick through ball to Vazquez-Camacho who grabbed a brace with another top quality finish! 0-2

HT.

What a half! Everything was going our way and we knew just one more goal in the second half would kill the game and therefore see us into the next round...

We continued to play the same way as we did in the second half when one our new players Michel who came on around the 60th minute mark started to make an impact as a ball was played over the Broomfield defence which Michael Jeya latched onto, saw Vivian gave him the ball who took the ball around the goalkeeper and slotted the ball into the net which was brought back for an offside, very harsh but the score stayed at 0-2.

We continued to dominate up until the last 15 minutes when we knew we had to hold on to the lead and defensively we were solid all game, so Broomfield didn’t have the quality to break us down, the ref blew the whistle and we were all celebrating all the way to the changing room and we continued the celebrations as we sang the vamps song once again!

WE ARE INTO THE SEMI FINALS! So proud of this team, lots of energy, passion and love for the club and each other as we continue to build on performances! Let’s not forget we have been unbeaten since October/November!!

LETS KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK LADS!

The 5th XI celebrate reaching the SAL Cup semi-finals with a 2-0 win against Broomfield 3rd
Nick Dunlop ⚽⚽, own goal ⚽

Saturday 26 January 2019
Muswell Hill Sports Ground, Coppetts Road, London N10 1JP
SAL Junior Division 4 North

The Crouch End Vampires 6s come rolling in on match day to host are local rivals AP. We currently sit top of the table which no one would of expected at the start of the season with the awful pre-season we had. Doing what we know best in scrapping together a win we move 4 points clear of the league table as we beat AP 3-2 with the goalscorer being Nick Dunlop with 2 and a very nice AP player scoring a own goal for us.

All the CEV 6s know we had a bad performance in the game but a few things that we showed was passion, team work and fighting spirit also Dunlop showing us how to dive to get a penalty. For this game I've chosen Liam Warner and Dunlop for my player to be in team of the week with both of them having solid performances.

I'm not finished just yet with a little payment tip I've got to add this to my report on the game, great performance from Jaden "the beast" Millard is alive and made AP suffer and made there lives a living hell for a full 90 mins and welcomed them and showed them what it feels like to play in the jungle!!!
