Today is your FINAL chance to vote for City Roots CLT!
We're getting out the vote for the Rochester-Monroe Anti-Poverty Initiative Participatory Budgeting Vote. What does all that mean? It means that City Roots has a chance to receive $50,000 in funding! But it won't happen without you.
YOU can help by simply voting for City Roots online or going to a polling location at the designated time all of which are listed at the link.
The only requirements to vote are that you are at least 11 years old and that you are a resident of Monroe County!

City Roots CLT Annual Meeting
Save the Date: Thursday, January 31st, 5:30 PM - 7 PM
Location: Thomas P. Ryan Community Center

Annual Meeting of the CRCLT membership.
The board will present its Annual Report on what we've accomplished in 2018 and where we plan to go from here. Members will give input and vote on 2019's slate of board directors.

Here's the full agenda:
- 5:30 - Eat, drink, be merry
- 5:45 - Concentric skills: an opportunity to learn more about the other folks involved with City Roots
- 6:00 - Annual Report presented by the board
- 6:25 - Introduce board slate and discuss proposed amendment to bylaws
- 6:40 - Vote (members only)
- 6:45 - Discussion around where we are and where we want to go as an organization
- 7:00 - Wrap it up
To qualify as a member, you must meet 2 of the following 3 requirements:
1) Have attended at least 4 CLT meetings since our last Annual Meeting
2) Have volunteered on behalf of the CLT at least once since our last Annual Meeting
3) Have paid annual dues in the amount of $25
Proposed amendment to our bylaws. Currently the bylaws call for us to have our Annual Meeting during the fourth quarter of the year. The board would like to amend the bylaws to allow for the meeting to be held in the first quarter of each year. From section 6b (proposed changes in red):
" Annual Meetings. Subsequent to the First Annual Meeting, the Annual Meeting of the Membership, for reports to the Membership by the Board of Directors and Officers, the election of Directors, the assessment of dues, and the transaction of other business, shall be held in the fourth first quarter of each year. The location and 5 specific time of the Annual Meeting shall be determined by the Board of Directors. Notice of the Annual Meeting shall include a list of those persons nominated for the Board of Directors as provided in ARTICLE III: of these Bylaws."

We need your help in order to cover our biggest expense - a new roof, soffit, and gutters. We’re asking for the community to once again rise up and show its support!

Last year dozens of donations, both large and small, allowed City Roots to help a courageous homeowner fight back and win against an unjust foreclosure in a huge victory for our community. This fall, the community rallied to support some of Rochester's most vulnerable, which resulted in the establishment of Peace Village - a self-governed homeless encampment where the land is stewarded by our Community Land Trust. Now we are asking the community to help us take this next step toward housing justice!
The new house is a great find. It has three bedrooms, lots of natural wood, a stained glass window, beautiful staircase, and an inviting front porch from which to greet neighbors and watch the world. The furnace, electricity, and windows have all been updated or replaced.
The big fix is the roof. The roof is currently leaking and the soffit and gutters are completely gone. Luckily, right now the water damage is minimal, but it’s crucial that we get a new roof on there ASAP, so that we can stabilize the house and get to work!
We're counting on all of our supporters to give what you can and to help spread the word. We'll also be asking for those who can, to come out and lend a hand so that we can keep costs down while still providing a high-quality level of improvements to the house

In total, there's $200k up for grabs with lots of other great organizations involved in the process as well like House of Mercy, REACH, R Community Bikes, and Flower City Pickers just to name a few.

VOLUNTEER TO HELP REHAB OUR NEW HOUSE
This house, located in the Beechwood neighborhood, will be sold to an income-qualifying first-time homebuyer when the rehab is complete. If you're willing to help, let us know. All skills and abilities welcome and no previous experience with home rehab projects needed!

History of Rochester Gentrification
On Thursday, January 24th, City Roots CLT co-hosted a presentation of the History of Rochester Gentrification along with 540Wmain Communiversity as part of the 2nd Annual "Fit Well, & Sustainable at 540" campaign.
The presentation was facilitated by CRCLT Outreach committee chair Shane Wiegand and explored the use of redlining, restrictive covenants, and racist/discriminatory housing practices throughout Rochester's history of development.
