Join us at International Week 2019!
UAlberta's annual International Week is a chance for you to hear various perspectives from around the world, and to engage in deep conversations about global issues. Each year International Week has a theme that all of I-Week’s speakers, talks and events focus on – this year we address the UNs Sustainable Development Goals (SDG).
This year's keynotes include:
The exciting new program also includes the Global Goals Talks. In 17 minutes, dynamic speakers shed light on what people in our communities are doing to achieve the Global Goals. Hear from a community of global and local thinkers who will inspire you on what actions we can take to help us achieve these 17 goals by 2030!

From Maastricht to Edmonton: Worldwide Universities Network Cultivates International Research Connections
It was during Dr. Stijn Michielse’s time studying for his Bachelor of Science degree back in 2009 that he first came to Edmonton. Through an international internship program, the Dutch student was able to work with Dr. Nikolai Malykhin and discover his passion for research that he still carries to this day. In 2018, Michielse completed his PhD at the Netherlands’ Maastricht University, focused on looking at the white matter in the brains of people living with a psychotic disorder and comparing them with the brains of healthy control individuals.
