Welcome new and old friends to February, the month of love and my birthday.

It's not often authors can chill with their biggest supporters. For the past three Januarys, I've hosted a Winter Reading Warm Up event a.k.a reader appreciation mixer. Last year, guests had fun decked out in their borrowed from hubby Stacy Adam shoes. This year, silver wigs were in the house.

I had so much fun that it took me two days to recover, or maybe it was because I'm getting older--literally. LOL. It was so heartwarming to fellowship with guests who I consider friends first, then readers. Some were church members, others were my family, a few author stalkers(Jeannie), but all were friends. The atmosphere was fun. Of course, I had a commercial break with local comedian Gold Wise. Between his take on Aldi's and splitting up Christmas gifts, it was memorable. 

This yearly event also allows me to spend time with my sister and niece. It's humbling that Kim and Kym take time out of their busy schedules to help me pull off the shindig, which takes months of planning, so my guests will have a good time.

No event is inspirational without a prayer circle for those who are enduring health challenges, mourning the death of loved ones, or in need of a job. God had it all covered. A special shout out to my unofficial after-party cleaning crew: Rose, Erika, Evelyn, and LaShaunda--they helped me clean up and restore the clubhouse. I look forward to next year's fellowship in St. Louis. The theme will be hats and long gloves.

I mentioned that February is my birthday month. I'm not planning a party for the big one or a program. All I want are my friends and family to have dinner with me. After that celebration, it's back to my writing cave to finish Book 2 in the Caregivers series: I'M HERE FOR YOU.
