Monthly Prayer
Prayer is important for our church and our personal relationship with God. To help us start with prayer in all things, we are launching a prayer evening on the first Monday of each month. Our first prayer evening is on 4 February from 7-9pm at St Nics. Feel free to drop in as able, ideally on the hour or half hour. It will be a relaxed environment with different prayer prompts and stations.

Communion Linen
We'd like to thank Maureen Plowman for her many years of serving the church each week by cleaning the communion linen. She has served so faithfully and deserves a massive thank you! Maureen recently decided that she would like to pass on this role to someone else in the church. If you would like to serve our church family in this way--cleaning and ironing the communion linen. Please get in touch with the office.

Amigos Volunteers Needed
Are you an international or an internationalist? Does your world truly span the globe, or would you like it to? Amigos is a great time with friends, involving acts of kindness and occasionally breaking a sweat; all have been shown to positively impact health and well-being*. So why not kick-start February with a boost to your health and try Amigos? Where your friend's international friends, are your international friends' friends too! Wednesdays at St. Nic's, 7:30-9:30pm.
*sources available upon request
"If your friend's friend's friend becomes happy, that has a bigger impact on you being happy than putting an extra $5,000 in your pocket." Prof. James H. Fowler

Discovery at Nics is a space to learn, explore, and discover more about God, your neighbour, and yourself. From January, we will be having our 4pm service only on the first and third Sunday's of the month. The first will be our family service and the third Sunday we will continue our Theology for All series.
February 3 - Family Service
The next family service theme is Rescued, and we will be looking at the story of the woman at the well. These services are full of fun, food and church family--all are welcome!
February 17 - Theology for All
A conversation with David Goodhew, who will be speaking on church growth.

Unwanted Spectacles
Jeannette Brinkman is travelling to Uganda in February. Last year she took out spectacles which were gratefully received by many people, and is happy to do the same this year. Children’s glasses would be particularly welcome. Glasses can be left in the church office. This Sunday is the last day to donate before Jeannette goes away. Thank you.

St. Nics Daily Prayer Diary
Sunday – For the global church. For the persecuted church across the world. For the church in Burundi and Lesotho with whom our diocese is linked. For our international mission partners across the world.
Monday – For our work with young people and families. For Kate Swann, Sarah Heslop and all those who work as part of our ministry to young people. For parents seeking to raise their children in the faith of Christ.
Tuesday – For the university and our work with students. For Lindsey Goodhew and Ben Coleman. For those who teach at the university and those associated with it. That they are enabled to live as disciples in places of learning and that their lives may reflect the love of God.
Wednesday – For our Government – national, regional and local. For all those faced with decisions which impact the lives of others. That they may seek the wisdom of God and act with justice and compassion.
Thursday – For our local institutions and those who are part of them. For Durham Sixth Form Centre, the passport office, the indoor market, Freemans Quay, those who work in retail and services based within the city centre.
Friday – For all those involved in the work with the international members of our congregation and the work of Amigos and Friends International.
Saturday – For the work and mission of Durham Cathedral. We pray for all those who work there and we pray for those who visit that they experience the wonder and presence of the living God.
