This month I would like to share an exciting story about an inquisitive boy and one of our volunteers. It starts with Nick who wanted to learn more about electronics. We gave him a tour of the museum which took several hours as he was full of questions and curiosity.
He came back for another visit and connected with Phil Lehwalder, one of our restoration engineers. Nick really wanted to build and oscilloscope and Phil agreed to mentor him. They chose a small CRT and over the next several months built an oscilloscope together. We highlighted this mentoring relationship on our website under the STEM, Tours, & Education tab.
Tektronix recently added to their website a Stories From Engineers page. They included Nick's story "When You Were Born To Engineer" and also Phil's story "The Power Of Mentors". Be sure to watch the videos as they are very well done.

Tektronix invited Nick to their 2019 worldwide sales meeting to share his story. Pat Byrne, President of Tektronix, presented Nick with his very own Tektronix oscilloscope. We also highlighted this story in our news blog Tektronix Stories From Engineers Features vintageTEK. This was a great mentoring project and all of us at the museum are quite proud of Nick and Phil.
We have a lot of photographs and negatives at the museum, many of unknown employees, but a number of photos of operations, buildings, and events.  Ever now and then we come across an interesting photograph so we started a Photo Of The Month page. We'll strive to add a photo every month and archive previous photos in a slideshow on the page. This month's photo is from the Sunset plant around 1957.
We continue to enhance the web site with many new resources and exhibits. We also want to thank those individuals who send us new leads for Tektronix in Movies and Shows. Some of the most recent pages added or upgraded in the last month include:

Please stop by if you are in the area for a tour of the museum. If you can't make it on an open day then please contact us and we will strive to accommodate your schedule. You can always visit our exhibits and take a photo tour of the museum on our website. Two visitors have posted videos of their tour which we have linked to in our Video Gallery. If you have an item, story, documentation, photos, or videos to donate, please contact us at contactus@vintagetek.org.
If you have time to contribute, we'd love to have you as a volunteer. Stop by to discuss opportunities and needs. We sometimes have opportunities where you don't need to be at the museum to contribute.
