It has been a long road of recovery for Birdie. She was doing really well after her initial treatments for the dreaded Meningeal Worm [aka Brain Worm] and was up on her own and improving. Then 4 months into recovery, she suddenly relapsed. We do not know at this point why. We are having the vet out again this week to rule out certain deficiencies. It can take a year for an animal to work through this, and we are not giving up as long as it is in her best interest. I've hung prayer flags and people can send them in her honor. Getting  250# llama up is hard on the back, but we re fighting right along with her. I'm giving her twice daily massages and helping her in as many ways as we can. Her sidekick, My Grace the goose continues to be her full time caretaker.
We are pulling for you Birdie!
Opie will be going to visit his elder friends for a Valentine's party. He has gathered special items for his friends, so watch for images in coming days ahead.
Recent news from Apifera: We are almost done building the special hut for our elder visits; We said good bye to our dear friend, Wilbur the Acrobatic goat who lived a very long and happy life, but we miss him; The Teapot, aka Lydia Rose the new stout pony, continues to go on walks with me and our hope is to have her partake in Woodland Walks with visitors and do therapy sessions; Earnest the pig has been living in the outer barn and will get a special private Earnest Hut this spring; We await spring but saw a bluebird come to one of the many houses Martyn made for them; I continue to work on the new illustrated memoir/photo book of White Dog and hope to do a fundraiser this fall.
