The slowest marathon... ever

In anticipation of next month's Tokyo Marathon, we bring you the curious case of Shizo Kanakuri. In 1911 Kanakuri won the first-ever Olympic marathon trial in Japan in a then-record time of 2:32:45. But this month we ironically remember Kanakuri's true claim to fame as the runner with the slowest finish time in marathon history: 54 years, 8 months, 6 days, 5 hours, 32 minutes and 20.3 seconds.
