Church-based Programs May Help Bring Blood Pressure Down

Patcha Foundation - Making A Difference On World Cancer Day (WCD) & Everyday
Patcha Foundation joined the global community on February 4, to commemorate WCD.  The team visited patients at the Cancer Ward at  L'Hopital General in Douala, Cameroon, sharing wigs, fruits, vitamins and prayer cards to over 68 cancer patients. Diagnosing Africa’s Medical Brain Drain.  Is Brain Drain A Crime?

Photo credit: Panos/ Sven TorfinnAfrica bears “more than 24% of the global burden of disease, but has access to only 3% of health workers and less than 1% of the world’s financial resources,” according to WHO.  It costs African nations between $21,000 and $59,000 to train each doctor, who will eventually go into private practice or emigrate due to low wages, poor working conditions and insecurity.  While on average, surgeons in New Jersey, USA earn $216,000 annually, Kenyan doctors earn on average $6,000 per year.  In Nigeria, about 35,000 doctors attend to the country’s 173 million citizens, a doctor-to-population ratio of 0.3 per 1,000 persons which is higher than in most African countries.   Read More

Patcha Foundation Admits New Board Members / Officers
At its Board Meeting on February 2, 2019, the Patcha Foundation elected Dr. Rosalie Ngachie as Vice President, and Ms. Tania Chinje as Secretary. 
Dr. Ngachie is a Pharmacist in Maryland, and a committed and active member of the foundation since 2016. She has served as lead Medical Mission Pharmacist, is a member of the MMPF eMed Telemedicine Network and the medical mission planning committee, and participates /mobilizes the community in support of foundation activities and programs.    
Ms. Chinje is Director of Event Services at Intellor Group, an agency tasked with facilitating corporate marketing communications. Her portfolio consists of multinationals such as Swiss Re and Eaton, global conglomerates such as Dupont and the Executive Office of the President of the United States.  She is also the Head of the newly formed Patcha Foundation Junior Associates Board.  
We are grateful to outgoing Board Secretary, Mary Givvines, and outgoing Vice President currently member at-large, Dr. Georgette Bibum, for their dedicated service to, and for their continued support of the organization and the community.
