Ida B. Wells Drive Becomes First Downtown Street Named After a Woman or Person of Color
Wells’ great-granddaughter and Columbia College Chicago faculty member Michelle Duster preserves and shapes history.

Public Forum: February 14

Marcella David, one of the two finalists for the position of senior vice president and provost, will be on campus for a two-day visit this week that will include a public forum on Thursday, February 14 from 3:00 to 4:30 p.m. in Film Row Cinema (1104 S. Wabash Ave., 8th floor). This forum will give the campus community an opportunity to hear her thoughts about Columbia and the role we play within the context of the future of higher education; a question and answer session will follow her talk. 

Note that this forum is happening during the previously scheduled DEI presentation which has now been rescheduled for Thursday, March 14 from 3:00 to 4:30 p.m. at Film Row Cinema, with a reception from 4:30 to 5:15 p.m.

The Science and Mathematics Department will kick off its Spring Semester Colloquium Series with “Shedding Infrared Light on the Mysteries of Star Birth,” a presentation from Adler Planetarium astronomer Dr. Grace Wolf-Chase. The talk will explore the beginning developments of stellar nurseries and how stars are born.
